Precision Reloading offers a better roll crimping tool at less money. I have them for 12 and 10ga. I can't get to them right now but they have at least two pins in their roll crimpers. BPI makes a big deal out of their two pin model and want more money for it.

I’ve got a Precision 10 gauge roller in my cart I’ll pick it up when the 8 gauge hulls arrive .

I wonder if parker brothers ever made a roll crimper for the 8 gauge...I know they had them for the 10 ga. I had one of them and sold it here to someone... I have a roll crimper for the 8 gauge but it does not have any markings on it...works good...charlie

Charlie, is your role crimper the kind with a crank and a lever that forces the hole into the rolling head? Or is it the kind that you put in the drill press.

charlie cleveland 07-25-2020 01:09 PM

edgar mine is the one with the crank and lever...its just like any of the old cast iron and brass roll crimpers maybe I can find it and get the daughter to post pictures...it is well made...I got this from Darrell middlebrook estate.....charlie

Well Charlie, I’d say it was a rare one because it being 8 ga., but if Daryl has it, you know it was rare. Those old crank ones do such a better job than the drill press type.

Good to know that I'm not alone.
Everyone thinks I'm crazy for trimming trees like that...

Until I hand them the shotgun and let them give it a go!

I was with Daryl in Connecticut when we found that crimper and related eight gauge tools. I insisted he buy it and he was trying to let me have it. Daryl also had a sizer, but I guess you missed that. When was "Daryl's estate" offered for sale, Charlie? He had awesome big guns, but I guess you didn't buy any of them.

Shot two punkin balls and two slugs all from the right barrel at 25 yards . The two punkin balls looked pretty decent the two slugs are still a bit apart . Might try a couple more wraps of tape on the slugs .

charlie cleveland 07-26-2020 08:31 PM

looking better I believe your right I would try 3 more wraps....charlie
