Craig. Before I built mine I looked at the rem. and the CVA Paramont. I called rem and they said that their gun was not designed for smokeless powder. I chose not to second guess their engineers. They wouldn't tell me what their barrel steel was or the material the breech plug is made of. The one guy that I know is converting the 700 ultimate is changing the breech plugs and maybe the barrels. His name is Jeff Hankins. He knows what he is doing. And thank you charlie for the kind words.
