Update on the 4 frame D. I bought it for $1860. The hinge and bolt need to be welded and fitted, $450. From Turnbull. The hammer screws need to be replaced and engraved $110. I added timberlux to the wood to seal up the wood. So I have $2420. In the gun. Not great but OK for what it is. Putting more money into it would be a waste in my opinion. Lightly recuting the checkering and re doing the barrels would cost another $600 to $800. So then I would be i
nto the gun for 3k to 3.2k. To much in my opinion but what say you? |

So you've gotten the pragmatic and poetic sides of this. It will be interesting to see where you go. I don't think you can make a poor decision on that fine gun.
