Sure sounds like that (*)was written by an advertising guy and not a metallurgist.
I've used plenty of 'their' pads, which they purchase and repackage, and have enough experience, both of metallurgy, and using them, to know they are one and the same.
Any ham-fisted attack will scratch, not matter what you're using, and if you don't pre-soak rust in kerosene first, well, you get what you deserve.

* An alloy, proprietary or not, is not made of other 'alloys,(that's what we called 'sweepalloy) it's made with elements. Stainless Steel, by nature, is way down the brinell scale from carbon steel, but the more nickel, the harder.

Edgar is absolutely right. I buy stainless scrubbers at the grocery, two for two dollars. They are the exact same thing as the rebranded pads labeled Frontier.

Bought a frontier pad (works great) and saw the ones in grocery store, bought those. Rub a frontier pad on your arm and no abrasion same with store pad. Put both in a solution of salt water, no corrosion. Use on a piece of soft wood, same result, I have to agree with Edgar.

I think I'll just continue buying (as needed) and using the Frontier Pads. Not because I doubt what others are saying about the supermarket scrubbing pads, but because I have used Frontier Pads for more than a decade and have come to trust that they
do no harm to any finished metal surface of a gun. I guess I'm just an "old dog" and don't take well to "new tricks.".... No offense Edgar :corn:
