I just recall an action on ebay that was very late and in the white. It was actually unfinished or should I say partially finished. I was trying to buy it when it was on ebay as I was trying to fill a hole in a display I am putting together.

Here are some photos taken today. To my untrained eye it looks to have been assembled at one time. Any thoughts?

Yup, that is the one. Notice that the hammer lock screws are not countersunk yet. And the axle cover screw holes are not threaded either by the look of it.

Brian, question is the O stamped on the upper tang a Remington frame size stamp or something else altogether? Thanks, Gary

Brian Dudley 08-31-2018 09:04 AM

It likely is. Remington marked things differently on the gun in various places than Meriden did. And since the frames at Meriden, never did have any marking on them as to frame size, Remington likely decided to mark them accordingly. I have had very few Remington Era guns apart to be able to say that I have noted this mark before on those frames.

Brian, I just might pull my Remington era 16 on a number 1 frame and see if this was a standard practice. Thank You
