The word 'range' qualifies the dash.
(Dash - def. a mark of punctuation used to indicate a missing letter or number.) 'Numbers in this case, and when two or more dashes are used together without spaces or other letters, numbers, or marks of punctuation, indicate a range. . |
I have no idea how Mr. Brooks got a late GHE into this conversation. The Bernard gun has a "2" on the forend lug.
|
I ask about the circle in middle of top rib and then stated that I had a GHE Parker with the same mark as pictured on the beautiful Damascus bbls pictured.Sorry Bobby

No reason to be sorry Robert. A bit of a variation from the topic but that happens all the time on this forum. There are so many questions on such a huge variety of topics that people need to ask a question when it presents itself.
Now, back on topic - a "2" stamped on the forend lug would indicate barrel set No. 2, is there a corresponding 2 on the forend iron? . |

Could just the rib have been replaced for some reason? |

Wow - you are confused....
Parker never produced a gun with letters in the serial number, i.e. 2365XX, the two X's being the letters I was referring to. On the guns that you have with a N preceding the serial number, the N is not a part of the serial but if you look closely it is actually a No. (with the right vertical stroke of the N intersecting or touching the o) meaning "Number" and you will only find that engraved in script on the trigger guard strap on grades 3 and higher. See example on a Grade 4 hammer gun. . |
I have never noticed the 0 before. I have several guns with the letter N. Never to old to learn something new:). My eyesight is bad, I can't hear worth a damn and my knees are starting to argue with me. Getting old isn't for sissies:nono:

That was my mother's favorite saying... and she was old - but I'm quickly learning how true her words were. . |
