Interesting to see how they were still figuring out the engraving patterns on the early hammerless guns. Mills' early examples really look like P's with birds added.

1903 GH, I love the wood, wish I knew how to make the figure pop!

That wood has some very nice figure. It was common that the Grade 2 Parkers exhibited nice figure on one side of the stock while the other side was rather plain.
I may be wrong, but your stock appears th have had a recent re-application of some sort of finish. A complete strip and refinish of the wood, as well as expert re-cutting of the checkering would make that figure really stand out. I am not one to suggest doing so to an original finish but, as I said, yours appears not to be the original finish. . |
