Craig, you can take my pair of #6 frame tens as backup. They are both factory 3 1/2" chamber guns.

[QUOTE=Rick Losey;193510]As someone once said

"You're gonna need a bigger boat,"

Better yet:

"Take 'em along for ballast, Chief"

THE BEAST has arrived and she is ready for the marsh - I had it double checked by Dr. Craig - she's is a 32" hammerless 10 bore on a "sturdy" #6 frame. Minimum wall thickness -.130 and a healthy .270 and chambers edge. The gun has been used but not abused. Mallard's beware!!
I expect to bring it down to Huassman's in early June. Anyone who wants to shoulder it there had best start doing pushups now :rotf:

Wow! .270" at chamber! That is over twice what barrels normally measure at that point.

Better get a new sturdy boat

Rick Losey 05-06-2016 09:46 AM

can't wait to see it Mark

My #6 frame Vulcan Steel ten has minimum wall thickness of .100 and I thought that was thick. .130 is astounding. Congratulations.

Craig Larter 05-06-2016 05:24 PM

The amazing thing is the bores have been honed maybe .010 and it still has .130 of wall. My #6 frame 36" has a min wall of .080. Can you say Meriden sewer pipes! It is truly a beautiful example of waterfowl guns that existed 100 years ago during a time that will never again be. A gun that was used but not abused. It is almost unimaginable for us modern day waterfowl hunters to understand the old times. How many hunts does it take to smooth checkering and wear CC to silver!! Mark is a youngster, but he is the perfect caretaker of such a great example of Parker gun-making and the continuation of waterfowl traditions.
