How's the Lope hunting going? I thought the AZ season was only a couple of days long. I hope your successful on both the goat and the gun.

Sorry for the delays. It has been a great run since September 1. Thanks to my loving and understanding wife I have been on a true adventure for the better part of a month. I had a wonderful hunt with the companionship of my brother George 15 months my senior ( He says we are Irish twins,) He is also retired from a position with the federal government having chased bad guys for over 25 years. We are now both free to do the things we sat in our room and dreamed about as kids. Lots of things we said we would do when we grew up, with the our imagination sparked by FUR-FISH- GAME, Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, and a copy of the Herter's catalog.

Started out September 1 shooting Whitewing, Eurasian, and Morning dove with a mix of pigeons thrown in for good measure. Even used the 8 gauge Parker 7 frame on some Eurasian doves and pigeons. Made some really fantastic shots to the amusement of my shooting partners.
Then off for a hunt for my Pronghorn that I waited 31 years to get a tag for. Finally to the North rim of the Grand Canyon were at 9000 feet George and I along with our dogs harvested 9 Grouse. George harvested 5 and I was able to take 4 ( Wont spend a lot of time talking about the birds I missed on the wing). Scout my puppy, that I wrote about in the last Parker pages pointed and retrieved his first Grouse. Started over a log and with his front feet on a log in some berry bushes. Froze up solid tail and head held high. Birds exploded a few seconds later and I was fortunate enough to bring a Dusky Grouse down. Nice retrieve to end the hunt for that day.
I promised my friend we will talk about a trade on the Parker 20 when I get back from my next hunt October 1.
Bob Beach called me while I was on the Pronghorn hunt and gave me information on the Parker. It was sold in 1941 by A&F. It did not indicate it had what type of trigger, so I will take pictures and get feedback when I return.
I was fortunate to get invited to hunt elk in Wyoming on the NX ranch so I am leaving Wednesday. I guess I need to share with my wife when I return that along with the turkey hunt starting Oct 3rd (also opening day of quail season), we were drawn for Sandhill Crane and Mule deer in November.
I hate to share all of the good new at once with her.
Some how when George and I were dreaming about all of the hunting we were going to do we some how forgot that we might be married. Again thank god for understanding wives.

That is quite the pronghorn Phil! Can't say I've seen a better one. I agree on the VHE20 being in the 5K range also. A 28" VH20 in nice condition I picked up a few yrs back was a bit under $3500.

What Mr. Flanders said re the Pronghorn. Looks to be near 15 inches which is a really good Pronghorn.
