I use the CB-0175 wad for 3/4oz and don't use an overshot card. The 700 and 800 is a flake powder and will want to vary a little bit if you go too fast [ with the hole in the charge bar under the powder bottle ]. At one time I was trying to load 28ga shells with 800X on a progressive press and was all over the place with powder drops. Called Mec and was told with such a small drop to not use a 650 but to use a single stage press. He said the bar doesn't stay under the powder bottle long enough for consistent drops. Used it anyways but I would pull the handle down, hold it, and rap the bottle with the other hand. Was ok then, but went to a different powder next chance I had. The pistol shooters at the club were trying 700x but found their drops were changing 2 or 3 tenths. No big deal for shotgun, but not for pistol.

Matt;
No overshot card or breakfast cereal. Use the DR16 wad in the RGL hull and you'll get perfect crimps. 20/28 powder is a fairly dense powder and fills the hull nicely. I, unlike Harold, can feel the difference between 3/4 and 7/8oz. loads. The 7/8oz. load is not uncomfortable but the 3/4oz. is so pleasant to shoot and breaks targets as well as the 7/8oz. load plus I'm saving money. A win-win the way I look at it.

Thanks guy's Do you have any 20/28 loads with 1 oz.?

Daryl Corona 06-25-2014 10:00 PM

Not really Dave. 20/28 seems to shine with 3/4-7/8oz. loads. I'm going to try to send you a spreadsheet on what loads I have and you can look for what you want. I'll send it to your personal e-mail.

Thanks Daryl...:)

Daryl, I can feel the difference between the 3/4 and 7/8 loads. It is just my brain that i have to convince. With the prices of lead at $54/bag at Cabelas yesterday, I will be switching to 3/4 oz. I have 250 2 1/2" cheddites to load up and they will be 3/4.
Wish I could use the 20/28 for the cheddites, but cant find a low pressure load for them with 20/28. I do however have International, Universal, and 7625 and there are good low pressure loads listed with those powders,
Hey, has anyone else noticed how much Daryl looks like the late, great Jim Croce--especially with his cigar?

Paul Harm 06-26-2014 03:13 PM

I believe all the foreign shells are straight walled, same as a Federal. If there's data for a Federal, it'll work in a Cheddite.

Thanks Paul, thats what I thought I had read somewhere. With the light loads I am using, I didnt think it was a problem anyway.

Harold,

You need to look around for a better price on shot. I know of three different shops that are charging $39 - $38 if you buy 10 or more. Cabelas price is certainly ridiculous.
