First powder in stock at S Warehouse here that I've seen in a long time. Win 748, Unique, ARComp, quite a selection of Alliant Reloder types and best of all, 8# jugs of H335, one of which I bought for loading the AR15. That much powder will do a lotta boolits. Interesting to look over the loading data in various manuals of varying ages; it's all over the board in velocities, COL, whether to use mag or non-mag primers, etc. Very difficult to find a load you feel you can trust enough to get started.

And the guy offered it at the bargain Buy-It-Now price of only $50/lb. What a sport.

Some shill for the Dept. of Homeland Security will probably snap it up. With our tax dollars.

Yeah. Those people who bought guns in Fast and Furious can't do much with those guns without ammo

I have just bought 8lbs of International Clays for $70 and 12lbs of Clays and 8lbs of 7625 from fellow PGCA members. The 8lbs of Clays came from an estate sale. I purchased 16lbs of 7625 when a gun club made a large order. In that order 10 bags of shot came my way and I bought 10 bags of reclaimed shot earlier in the year. I am now set for quite some time.

Richard I can provide you a nice load for the 223 if you wish. Three of us use the same load and it's very accurate in our varmint rifles. PM me if you would like the data.

I think we all know smokeless powder for shotguns use is hard to come by these days. We all speculate on a cause or hear various stories of why. A retailer in powder, other components and ammunition etc spoke with me yesterday. He asked me to not use his or his companies name. He was quite discouraged having received a partial order of powder, one small bottle of 800-x. He called his wholesale distributor to ask what is going on, how much longer etc. The wholesale distributor was upset as well as his customers are climbing up his butt too. The wholesale distributor told the person I spoke with yesterday that his contact at a major powder company told him the government has and continues to purchase 85 to 90% of their entire production and we are doing the best we can. Third hand information, rumor, sure it is, but it is what I heard from a retailer I know and spoke with. Why wouldn't powder makers tell us this, fear of IRS audits, OSHA inspections, cancellation of government orders to their parent companies perhaps? If it is true it will eventually come out. I am not sure what to think but the scarcity and duration of the scarcity of almost all shotgun powder and 22 rimfire is difficult to explain. I am not intending nor want to turn this thread into a political commentary. My point is powder is scarce and it may be scarce for some time to come, buy it when you see it is my advice.

A prescient observation. I called a major midwest distributor this week. They have NO shotgun powders at all. None. And this guy supplies many of the ATA shooters.

Primers? No problem.
Wads? No problem.

For what it's worth, I simply can't understand why some offshore manufacturer doesn't send about 100 containers of powder to the US. They'd make a killing. No pun intended.

Hmmm. Maybe illegal aliens will start smuggling it in.

Maybe we could get Eric Holder to investigate, he doesn't have much to do lately:rotf:

Maybe you should keep that powder locked in your gun safe, Rich, it will be as valuable as gold in the future.
I picked up 2 1 lb (ok, 14 oz) bottles of PB yesterday that had not been marked up in price. I have never loaded PB, but heck, at least I can use it for my 12's and 16's until I run out. Also, the store had all primers 10% off, but they only had 500 shotgun primers and they were Fed 209A at $2.69/100.
I have not used those primers but have seen plenty of low pressure loads with them, so I took them. Anymore, we have to use what we can find, not what we want.
I still have 8 lbs of 20/28 and can get more. The store also had 2 8 lb jugs of 700X.
Shot was $44/bag--I wanted #8, but they had 7 1/2 and 8 1/2--so I figured if I mix them and divide by 2, I will have 8 shot, right?
