Just to add to the discussion, one of the managers at the Kittery Trading Post mentioned to me recently that although ammunition and reloading supplies sales increased 800 to 1000 percent in the last year sales of gun cleaning supplies are down 30%. His conclusion, customers are buying lots of ammo, powder and primers etc. and not shooting their guns.

That's a good bet.

It seems to me manufacturers and retailers will have to raise prices in order to bring some equilibrium back to the market by discourageing hoarders. Quite sad the powder situation has come to this and these auctions show how crazy it continues to be.

After all this madness, will they lower the prices? Probably not unfortunately.

Dean Romig 05-12-2014 12:18 PM

That is simply insane and I do NOT believe those auctions to be legitimate.

Heck. I've got a pound of Unique that I will let go today for half that price: $205.

Plus HAZMAT fee and shipping of course...

Dean can you elaborate on what causes you to believe they are not legit? These are not the first in the $300 to $400+ winning bid for 8lbs of Unique. There is very little powder out there to be had, especially powders that are used in pistol rounds.

Dean and others. Go to Gunbroker, use the Advanced Search, search Completed Items for....

Powder 8*

You will be shocked.

lots of thing go nuts over there

a little while back a dealer i have done business with a couple times (and found to be a good person to deal with) listed a box of 16 gauge 2 1/2 inch polywad spreader loads -

it went for $55 give or take a few pennies - I have 8 boxes I would let go for the bargain price of $50 each.

they list on the polywad site for $15 now

at my club we have all the primers in stock for the first time in three years at good prices. but we have no shotgun or pistol powder, so buy primers now and powder next winter when some becomes avalible .we have lots off B&P and NOBEL shells in stock, I think these are imported the euros don't seem to have the same problem we have
