yes NICE GUN!!! and you will love the 10 ga. hope to see it soon :corn: scott

Hey Dave,
Up till now a big bore to me was a 12 as I'm sure it was to you and BTD. (Big Ten Dean). Sorry Mark but I had to borrow your moniker for this post. I'm sure between Mark, Scott, Pete and now Dean, one of them will let us borrow their 10's. Now if we could only get them to reload for us.:rotf:

Dave Suponski 07-17-2012 10:18 PM

Daryl, They're gonna have too.... I got non of them big bore reloadin stuff either....

Mark Ouellette 07-18-2012 06:45 AM

Borrow a 10 gauge from me? Heck I'll sell you one! :)

Dean,

I think that you will find that with shot size, weight, and velocity equal to a 12 gauge load, the Short Ten is very forgiving when you are not quite centered on a clay target.

Mark

Dean Romig 07-18-2012 10:06 AM

So it won't be quite as un forgiving as a 28 gauge??

Pete Lester 07-18-2012 10:57 AM

Dean I know you may have seen this crude video I put together while ago but it may be of more interest to you with your new addition. Reloading for the Short Ten is relatively easy and very cost effective.

This video has me convinced I need a 10, and, a blond to teach me how to use it.

Charlie, I'm way more likely to find a 10, then a blonde. Come to think of it, and since we're all being honest, I'm more likely to find a high grade .410 then a blonde.

Dave Suponski 07-19-2012 03:34 PM

Well, If we are being completely honest I think I would rather have a high grade .410 than a blonde. Most likely less trouble.....:rotf:

Tom Carter 07-19-2012 04:09 PM

Blonde vs 410

It'll cost you less in the long run too. Cheers, Tom

Daryl Corona 07-19-2012 04:28 PM

Have you ever tried reloading those stinking little .410 hulls. I'll take the blond, thank you!

I talked with my friend who facilitated my purchase of this gun and it turns out that it is the gun that was being "peddled" at Brimfield, MA. just about 15 miles North of the Ct state line. Google Brimfield Tornado to see the destruction from the June 2011 tornado.

hmmm, thats interesting Dean

the hammer gun I passed on at an antique show two years ago, the one that got me started here, was sold the very next week at a large antique show at

wait for it

Brimfield -- been telling my wife we should go to that one.

Dean Romig 07-19-2012 10:41 PM

Could it be the same gun?

no Dean, that one was a 12 bore O grade.

just thought it was funny another should show up at the same place within a couple years. I just hope I don't run into everyone else there next year :rotf:

Dean Romig 07-20-2012 09:52 PM

I just finished cleaning the bores and what I thought was crud and rust scale turned out to be just that and they cleaned up very nicely. There is a minimal amount of very shallow pitting but it really isn't worth a second look... very clean in my opinion. I have no reservations on shooting this 2 5/8" 'chambered for brass' Parker.

calvin humburg 07-20-2012 11:01 PM

Now just some brass a little black and the fun begins.

edgarspencer 09-30-2012 06:46 AM

I'm here to report: Deans Gun is a Clay Buster.

Dean Romig 09-30-2012 07:37 AM

Edgar is absolutely right!!

When I do my part those clays just disappear and a small cloud of dust remains in their place.... but at 9# and a very good whallop to my shoulder which sends a shock wave through the rest of my body I think I'll stick to the 16 or 28 for October and Novermer in the uplands and save the big 10 for turkeys in the spring.

I turned in my 12 ga. scorecard to the Fox team yesterday and went out and shot the 10 later.... I should have burned my 12 ga. card and turned in the card for the 10

...but neither would have qualified in the top five anyway.

George M. Purtill 09-30-2012 08:20 AM

For those who attended the PGCA Vintagers booth and saw Dean's 10 you will agree- he is a thief!
What a sweet gun.

calvin humburg 09-30-2012 11:01 AM

What was the 10 load you were shooting Dean?

Dean Romig 09-30-2012 03:51 PM

I shot RST "Light" 1 1/8 oz. #8. I don't remember the Dr. Eq. but you can look it up on their web site.

I'll admit to being a bit of a "bottom feeder" when the situation requires but will 'step up to the plate' when I need to. I never even attempted to try to get Jay Schacter to lower his price on his 'all but new' 28 ga. straight-grip CHE... an absolutely stunning little Parker that fit me like it was made for me... or someone just like me but with a much fatter wallet :crying:

George M. Purtill 09-30-2012 09:45 PM

Just got home from Vintagers. There were many guns there that could have come home with me but for my skinny butt- er.... wallet.
