Dean, just like everything worthwhile in life, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Just sayin' for a friend.

Dean Romig 08-18-2024 11:26 AM

For sure Mike!

There are many noteworthy things to fret about in life. This ain’t one of them. It’ll come when it does. Something to look forward to.

DJI reader and index

Almost 2025, we were promised book would be shipped in 2024, WRONG again, went to web site, they are tying to sell digital and old printed books. Hope we get what we paid for, but I doubt it, we have been promised but no results yet. Crazy way to do business..

Chris Robenalt 12-07-2024 06:41 PM

Ron, I spoke with Joanna last week. She said things are at the printer's, and the readers will be out by February.

Ronald A Moore 12-09-2024 10:45 AM

Reader !!!

we have heard that printer story before, I really want to get book, but have my doubts. I realize why magazine went out, if you do bussiness in this way, one often fails.

Ron, You simply do not know the DGJ story... at all!

Jeff langbehn 12-09-2024 12:12 PM

Dean said it best, if not for the DGJ we would not even have this forum, if you are concerned about your money, tell me how much and I’ll Give it to you…. Jeff langbehn

Journal 111

I have been subscribed to DGJ for almost 14 years great book, great articles, great pictures, when it was sols it went south quickly, bad deal bur it happens in business, hope we get Reader 111, as promised over and over again. Money is not abject just want the book. I think I know the DJG story only the old owners wrote it.

Phil Yearout 12-13-2024 05:15 PM

I may be wrong but I don’t think it was ever sold. I believe the Cotes were owners/publishers from soup to nuts?

Bill Murphy 12-13-2024 06:12 PM

Sols???

Okay… For the doubters here…
This is from Daniel this morning.
I hope this answers all the questions from the naysayers.

Daniel and Joanna:

My condolences on the loss of your son. I and I'm sure the majority of the PGCA members and the vast multitudes in the double gun community who are forever grateful for the work you put into making the DGJ and all the books and videos available to us.

Thank you;

Michael Moffa

Garry L Gordon 12-14-2024 12:56 PM

Let's give these folks a break. This is not your typical large scale publisher, so a little understanding of their situation is in order (and thanks, Dean, for your reminder that there are human issues here to take into consideration.)

I get the need for recreational complaining, but do it about something else...try big government or the USPS at Christmas for example.:)

DGJ Index III

Hello everybody,
I just wanted to let you know I had tried emailing DGJ as I needed to change my address and didn't get a response. So I called this morning and talked to Joann. She said that they will be shipping end of Feb.

Merry Christmas

Jeff langbehn 12-16-2024 05:13 PM

I’m sorry Daniel had to divulge his personal situation for the benefit of some who felt compelled to belittle him. Daniel and Joanna gave so much for many of our benefits. If not for their dedication many of us would not have so much joy…. They deserve ALL of our gratitude….

Dean Romig 02-13-2025 05:06 PM

I just heard from Daniel and Joanna today and their publisher in Canada will begin shipping to us in March.

And that's some Very Good News.

.

Jeff langbehn 02-13-2025 05:17 PM

I am not aware that the DGJ was ever sold, Ron you seem to be a genuinely unhappy fellow, I suspect if I had gone through what Daniel and his family have gone through the publication of anything might not matter. With that said does anyone have a current update Jeff Langbehn

Dean Romig 02-13-2025 05:26 PM

See my post immediately above yours. I posted this news 1/2 hour ago... and that's the latest.

Ronald, you obviously do NOT know the Double Gun Journal story. It was started by Daniel and Joanna Cote in about 1990 but the first issue was a couple of years later. DGJ has NEVER been sold. Daniel and Joanna moved from their beautiful little house in the hills of Vermont and moved lock, stock and barrel to Michigan and they've been there ever since. They still own all the rights to the DGJ even though sadly, it is no longer being published.

Regards, Dean

Jeff langbehn 02-13-2025 05:48 PM

Thank you Dean, jeff

Bill Murphy 02-14-2025 04:42 AM

If Ron will let me know how much money to send him, I will send him a check for that amount. When the book arrives at his home, I'm sure he will send it to me, USPS Media Mail. He will have to wait in line to replace me as the "PGCA Curmudgeon". There are a few in front of him.

Clark McCombe 02-14-2025 05:13 AM

Question from a newer member.
What exactly is the “DGJ?”

Dean Romig 02-14-2025 06:52 AM

The Double Gun Journal which is no longer in publication due to budget constraints and lack of subscribers. We ALL will miss this wonderful magazine.

.

Clark McCombe 02-14-2025 08:07 AM

I am sorry. Like several of the farm publications I looked forward to receiving, either no longer exist or are downsized to the point of irrelevancy.

Ken Hill 03-12-2025 08:37 AM

I’m not sure how long Daniel has had this gun for sale. At the bottom of the listing is this information:

A MESSAGE TO ALL WHO HAVE ORDERED THE "INDEX & READER VOLUME 3":
The Double Gun Journal Index & Reader Volume 3 (456 page hardcover) will be published and shipped by the end of March 2025.
The pre-publication rate of $135 Ppd. to U.S.A. will remain in effect until March 15, 2025. If you haven't ordered yours, please call us.

Ken

Clark McCombe 03-12-2025 08:52 AM

I spoke to Daniel a few days ago.
He still has the 20ga Trojan for sale.
Sounds like a very original gum

Mills Morrison 03-12-2025 02:29 PM

Fingers crossed it happens. . . .

Dean Romig 03-12-2025 02:31 PM

It will.

Craig Budgeon 03-12-2025 02:46 PM

I received Volume 1 issue 1 of the DGJ after waiting more than a year after I subscribed. It arrived sealed in a cardboard box just like the last issue. After opening the box, I realized that all promises had met. Whenever I have ordered products from the Cotes I have never expected a firm delivery date on products which haven't been produced yet but they would arrive. I for one have enjoyed every issue of the DGJ I received and Know I will never have an opportunity to buy a magazine of that quality again!

Bill Murphy 03-12-2025 04:23 PM

Every time I see a new post on this thread, I expect to read that someone has received the Volume 3 Index. Won't be long, now. Is part of the story that the book is at the printer's and waiting for the printer to finish up, or start up? Even I'm getting a bit of doubt, and I like the guy. I believe it won't be long now.

Dean Romig 03-12-2025 05:43 PM

Yes, it is at the printers. It’s in their hands now… but we know they have had a couple of difficulties that have contributed to this delay.

.

Mills Morrison 03-12-2025 08:25 PM

I am hopeful it happens. If it is at the printer, that is significant progress.

Bill Murphy 03-13-2025 07:32 AM

I'm unemployed at this time. I would be glad to give him a hand.

I offered my help over a year ago to assist them in editing/proofreading but they said they thanked me but were capable of doing it by themselves… and they were of course.

.

Jeff langbehn 03-13-2025 09:42 AM

Like all good things, they are worth waiting for. I’m certain it’s going to be worth the wait. Jeff

Greg Baehman 03-13-2025 10:42 AM

I just put my order in for the Index lll from Joanna and received the partial credit from my remaining subscription to the magazine from which I had been a charter subscriber. She did confirm the Index lll is now at the printer, but it won't be shipped until towards the end of April 2025.

Craig Budgeon 03-13-2025 04:31 PM

Would the Parker Story ever had been printed if not for the Cotes? The 159 articles in the DGJ, the Herschel Chadick DVD, the reprints of rare Parker catalogues, and the two readers to date have helped every member of this club. I trust that the Cotes will ship it to me when it is ready and after what they have been through, I believe that is an awful lot to expect!

Robert Brooks 03-14-2025 07:21 PM

I ordered my copy today 3/14/25 and was told shipping volume 3 in May. Bobby
