Sara LeFever 12-26-2023 11:42 AM

I’m so very sorry Dean. Grace is such a special girl. We will be keeping you all in our thoughts. Lots of hugs.

Sara

Jim DiSpagno 12-26-2023 12:08 PM

My deepest sympathies Dean. Please know you are in my prayers as well a Gracie.

Dan Steingraber 12-26-2023 12:50 PM

Sorry to hear about your pup Dean.

Chris Pope 12-26-2023 01:01 PM

What awful news Dean. Thinking of you and your Gracie. Hold her tight.

Chuck Bishop 12-26-2023 02:09 PM

So very sorry to hear this Dean. I remember her when you got her. Our thoughts are with you.

allen newell 12-26-2023 03:42 PM

Dean, I know that you and I have been through this before. It's never easy and frankly is heartbreaking and heart rending to loose your dog, your best friend . I feel your pain and just hope that she passes as peacefully as possible. My prayers are with you

bob weeman 12-26-2023 04:36 PM

Thinking of and praying for Gracie and you Dean....

Stan Hoover 12-26-2023 05:14 PM

Dean,

I'm sorry to hear about Gracie,

Our thoughts are with you and Gracie.

Daryl Corona 12-26-2023 05:37 PM

[QUOTE=Dean Romig;401745]We’ll miss you Bob.

I may have to miss it too…
My sweet Gracie is in the last days or even just hours of her life.
I rushed her to the 24/7 emergency vet on Christmas Eve and after 3-4 hours of tests the doctor told me Gracie has late-stage pancreatic cancer that has metasticized to her liver. My options were to leave her there to be euthanized or bring her home to die. I opted to bring her home….

Dammit - she's only 9 1/2 and I thought she's be at least 14 when she passed on.

Don't mean to hijack your thread Pete but I hope you guys have great shoot. Sorry to hear about Gracie at 9 1/2 yo Dean. I had to put Parker down last month at 14 yo so I, like many of us here, know the feeling.

WilliamJanelle 12-27-2023 02:28 PM

I’ll be there and I’ll bring some venison chilli.

allen newell 12-27-2023 02:51 PM

I can't make it. Have non shooting company

Dave Suponski 12-28-2023 08:29 AM

Dean, I’m so very sorry to hear this just now. Please stay close to her. Our thoughts are with you both.

Dean Romig 12-28-2023 09:44 AM

Thanks Dave and thanks to everybody for your kind words.
I’ve made the decision to not attend this event this year.
Just too much going on… I rolled my car over on Christmans Eve and I’m very sore.
See you all soon.

Holy cow, I hope you're ok.

Daniel Carter 12-28-2023 11:03 AM

Sorry to hear this you will be missed. Was looking forward to shooting my short 10 backing you up in the protection shoot and beating Pete and Scott this time. Only one bird short a couple years back. Be well soon!!

WilliamJanelle 12-28-2023 12:09 PM

Sorry to hear this Dean. Take care and we’ll let you know if we do a sporting clays shoot this winter.

The 2024 New Year's Day Shoot was a success. The temps were in the mid to upper 20s, and while it started out overcast, the sun was out by late morning. I think we had a good turnout, and everyone did a fantastic job bringing an assortment of food. Numerous rounds of skeet and trap were shot throughout the morning.

1 - First round of trap
2 - Skeet
3 & 4 - Our lunch spread
5 - Bill Janelle and Russell Cleary shooting skeet

Final round of trap for the day:

1 - Bob Fabian
2 - Bob Lyons
3 - John Dunkle
4 - Pete Lester

I'd like to thank Pete for pulling this together - but, the real "Stars of the Day" were Sara's Sugar cookies, Bill's Venison Stew and Bob's Smoked Chicken.... Just saying.... ;) Too....

It was a pleasure to meet many of you for the first time - and for your comments and conversation!!.... And....

Sara - in a couple of the images above - I notice my bird is broken into several pieces while Pete's is intact?? Photoshop? I think not.... Thanks for making me look good...!!

Daniel Carter 01-01-2024 04:39 PM

Thank you Pete. This day is not about shooting at all, it is about the people and the guns. Realized i had never held a Lefever on the way up and Sara took care of that omission in short order. Thank you Sara!! Again it is the people that make the day with the stories and the unique guns. John it is fabulous, thank you.

We lucked out on the weather and I will second you on the food, we had a very nice and rather bountiful lunch. I will never tire of your Grandpa's trap gun which btw you shot very well, I had to use a 10 ga to tie you :) Your DHE 20 is a sweet little gun (but my Parker GHE 12ga Skeet Gun said, "hey watch this little bro"). I also liked Mark Kingsbury's high condition Lefever 16ga G grade as well. Congrats to Bob Lyons who brought his new to him Parker damascus GH 10ga and shot a short ten for the first time thanks to Scott Kittredge shotshell distributor Inc. If somebody didn't have a good time today it was their own fault. Thanks to all who came and Happy 2024, may it be a great year for everyone.

You are very welcome. I’m glad I could make that wish come true, and let you inspect my C and G grades. Lefevers do not disappoint!

Lefever shotguns are special and the high grades are beautiful works of art. They really play well with Parkers in the gun cabinet. The more you learn about them the better the odds you will show up next year with one of your own. (PS. Sara might not have told you some of their special features, to name a couple you can turn an automatic safety off and make it a manual safety with the turn of a screw. Uncle Dan's design was rather brilliant, instead of a roll pin for the hinge it is a ball and socket, should it come loose from wear you can bring it back on face by turning another screw).

Thanks Pete.... It just "fits me"? Much better when I first shot it back in '66 or so, I was 9 years old then, and hadn't filled out as much as Grandpa yet? I had a tough time even seeing the bird over those 34" Whitworths back then...?

:rotf: Yep, you spanked my little gun pretty hard in Skeet - BUT - Sara let it be known who was "King and Queen" of the Skeet field? And, well - buddy - it isn't "us". When I want lessons in skeet - I'm calling her.... Just sayin'.....

Actually - no Pete - thank you, Sara, Scott, Dan, Bob, Mark - well the list could gone on and on.... For a terrific wonderful start to 2024 after a particularly difficult year end to 2023.... Each and all of you put a smile on my face today. And that... Is more appreciated than you know...

My thanks.....

I'll commit right now to $100 in those tickets... I never won one of the Parker Raffle guns - so, my go to is now that Lefever... BTW - If I win it, one skeet lesson is on you, right? "Save the Skeet" will be our motto - and I expect to live up to that.....

;)

Thank you so much for today, Sara.... I had a wonderful time...!

To everyone, thanks for getting this set up. This was my 2nd year and had a great time looking forward to next year already.
Special thanks to Scott for letting me use his 10 gauge shells for a round of trap, plus some reloading ideas from both Scott and Pete.
I just got an order in for some hulls and wads. Shooting the 10 was better than I had expected.

Daniel Carter 01-01-2024 09:22 PM

Sara that video is just awful, good work.

I wish I could take credit for finding that video, but Pete showed it to me when he started teaching me skeet. :D

Daniel Carter 01-02-2024 07:34 AM

That may be but YOU posted it. For the rest of you folks its one of those '' you had to be there'' things.

Chris Pope 01-02-2024 08:10 AM

Thank you for posting the photos of the New England crew in action! Was there in spirit! ...and the photos of the food just made me hungry.

Bill Janelle’s venison chili is always fantastic, and even better on a cold day!

Sara

Chris Pope 01-02-2024 08:47 AM

It was great to see the photo of Bill Janelle as he was a colleague many years ago, a true professional really good at what he does.

bob weeman 01-02-2024 12:38 PM

Wish I could have been there! the Covid symptoms were gone a couple days prior but did not want to risk giving it to anyone. Went down to my range a shot a few there. Still not the same and no where near as fun as this shoot. Glad all had a great time!
