5 total known Sterlingworth 20's 32,'s, two with ejectors.
|
I’d be up for a PRE 1940 Sterlingworth 28 gauge with 30 or 32 inch barrels :whistle::bigbye: And yes I’m well aware they didn’t make them then .

Decided 2021 was the year to finally attempt to find a nice original 28 Ga. Skeet in Skeet Out Parker , so early in the year I sold a handful and seriously started to search dealers and web sites and lo and behold , one came up on Guns America ,I contacted the owner who said this gun had been in his family since 1940 ! We struck a deal and one more added to my small collection of Parker Guns !
|
A Wonderful Parker Russ! Can we see more of it? Straight grip or pistol grip?
. |
The gentleman I bought my 32" SW from at one time had three. Mike got one, I got one and he kept one and was shooting doves with it this year. So that makes 4 that I know of.

Thank You Dean , It is a Straight Stock ! I am very pleased with this gun and am looking quite forward to Woodcock and Grouse season this year !:) Here are a few more pics ! This guns serial# is in the 238 Thousand section of the serialization book where there is a list of what appear to be about a dozen or so Skeet configured guns , as a matter of fact Josh L has one advertised that I have been pondering buying just because of the serial number being so close to mine !
|
That's just a wonderful gun Russ. Congratulations. I bet she sub 6 lbs.

In the fall with thicker clothing it will probably be way too long for you. You can remedy this problem by shipping it to me…
. |
Boy am I glad to hear that Dean ,I was wondering what I would do with it !:rotf:
|
Well, the research letter on my VH 16 arrived. It checks out as mostly original, save the silvers pad. It was shipped to a Howard Perry in Greenville, SC, so a southern gun which is uncommon. 26" and 6 1/2 pounds
|
Mills nice buy. I bought my son a VH 16 ga 26 on a 1 frame. He took it to the Tug Hill today for grouse, 4 flushes but no shots, still too many leaves. They make a perfect upland gun not too heavy but not whippy. 7

I have a few sent to the South. My other VH 16 with 26 inch barrels was sent to Atlanta, so this makes kind of a pair. Will have to try grouse and woodcock hunting up around Greenville now

The BH arrived yesterday. A bit of a project, but should clean up nicely.
I really like the setter scene on the floorplate |

A very early BH 12 gauge I won at auction. 56,xxx sn range
See if you can click and zoom in on the pics. Lots of gunk and rust |
Good luck with it. Hopefully the bores are good, the rest is just character eh ..
|
Bores are good, thankfully. Over 30 everywhere I measured.

Craig now that's my kind of 16ga, congratulations. Just the way I like to find them.
|
What a gun... It makes me wonder.... A 16ga on a #2 frame, with that much barrel thickness sure has to carry some weight. Why was it ordered that way and what was the original owner doing with it ? Waterfowl I would guess.
The many iterations of the Parker shotgun. |
I shot the DH 16 32” 2 frame today and yes I can break targets with it . But I can’t play around with it , it’s choked tight enough that the A Game is needed especially on close ones . Anyway it’s staying for a few years unless of course they need to plant me . Now if I could find a VH/VHE or DH/DHE 20 gauge 32” F&F on a 1 frame dare I say with 2 7/8” chambers . But an 0 frame would be fine as well . Oh yeah failed to mention the 16 32” letters with factory cut 2 7/8” chambers which I find very odd .
|
Craig I bet there were a half dozen guys that were praying you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with the gun LOL.
|
I was one of ‘em.
. |
those 2 7/8 chambers were ordered for the 3 inch 16 ga shell shells made back when...charlie

There are a number of 20s and 16s chambered for that shell. I have owned both a 20 and a 16 chambered that way. Foolishly both reside elsewhere now.
:banghead: |
The big paper shells shoot great in them!

That long-legged beauty needs to have its business end trained on a turkey's head not lounging around in a gun safe. The late EDM (Ed Muderlak for those who didn't know him) coined the term "flying turnips" for the engraved ducks on some Parkers that actually look a lot like turnips with wings. We see them on a few Meriden Fire Arms guns too.... likely the same engraver. . |
