I'm going to shoot some 5 stand tonight at our local club , think I might shoot a round with my PH 8 . To date I've only shot skeet with the thing :rotf:

I'm sure it will fit in your carry one, if you need to shorten the barrels, we can weld the barrels up when you get there

You’re welcome to shoot either of mine if you’d like .

I would suggest they need to make an 8 gauge event on the course at Sanford but I dunno if I wanna lug that big brute around that place or not .

Craig Larter 04-27-2021 04:03 PM

I will definitely bring my 8's to Hausmann's. Sorry I couldn't make it but my travel companions didn't want to leave Rochester in a snow storm making a 11 hour drive even longer plus rain was predicted in Sanford Saturday.

How does one even track down an old 8 gauge? I've always wanted one but have never even seen one in person, a double would be awesome but I'd be more likely to afford a single like a Davenport, Shattuck or other.

I saw an old western movie over the weekend. A deputy sheriff carried an 8 gauge double with what appeared 36 in barrels, could have been a Parker, took out a lot of bad guys!

Finding an 8 gauge is not difficult. In the last year Rock Island Auction has sold a bunch of both single barrel and doubles over a large price range. All of the singles have been British makers as have most of the doubles.
8 gauge doubles from American makers come to market occasionally but are on the pricey side.

I’ve had several single barrel hammer 8’s with Jones underlever in my hands in the last eight or so months . All but one were for sale .

CraigThompson 09-08-2021 12:37 PM

I’m fighting the urge for a Parker lifter 8 ! Still wanna get 32” 16’s and a 20 .

Louis Rotelli 09-08-2021 03:59 PM

I have a Lefever 8ga that im working on for a client I'll ask if he minds if I shoot it

Craig Larter 09-08-2021 04:21 PM

Craig funny how the guns I'm looking for never seem to come to market. For years I resisted buying a 8 because of the cost of reloading. Covid refocused me------ next year may never come. So I decided to buy a 8 from a fellow member listed on this forum. Within a year and a half three ( two Parkers and a Lefever)more dropped into my lap. LOL!
One of the biggest kicks I get out of shooting a 8 is watching the reaction of friends that give it a go. They all can't believe how much fun the big guns are.

yes the 8 ga is big fun aint they don't kick like you think they would....I wanted a 8 ga or a 4 ga since I was a boyi was in my 50s before I found one I could afford...none of my 8 s are in fine shape but they all shoot and stay together...I ve hunted with them and shot many cans with them I never tire of reading or looking at a 8 or 4 bore..i found a 4 bore single barrel but just hate to go in debt to buy it..so far I have 3 rough parkers and 1 fa loomis and a single barrel davenport that's a good shooter..almost had a lefever 8 but lost out on the auction....charlie

I always forget about the rock island auction! Need to start watching them, and I sent a request to the Facebook group! Thanks!!

When I was looking for mine, a member here said “Parker 8 gauges aren’t hard to find, they are just hard to pay for. LC Smith 8 gauges are hard to find and hard to pay for.” I have found that to be true
