"The community of friends and neighbors is so much of what calls you back – draws you back – each time to that place among the hills. These days, going back there each time seems more like coming home than going away. Odd that it should be so - your home, your profession, your family, Kathy, your daughters and their families, almost everything else in your life being at the other end of that long drive - but more and more it seems so. You don’t have a split personality but it seems you have a divided life. Having a wider base, though, keeps you from toppling and provides a more varied root system to support you."
