I load one ounce loads at 1200 fps for my 16 yard shooting. In my opinion, that's all you need at 16 yards. I save the one and one eighth ounce loads for handicap. It works for me.

As most here know 16-gauge shells are particularly difficult to buy nowadays. Yesterday a GB advert for 4 boxes of Remington Game Loads, those with the black-colored hulls, had multiple bidders and sold for $84. plus $15. shipping. That's almost $25. per box of 25 shells.

Where did you find that deal John? . |

Well folks according to the most recent American Rifleman we are the cause of the ammo shortage. Hornaday, Fiochi, and Sierra said that there work forces are all working overtime and Hornaday commented that there workforce was exhausted. Browning and Winchester both replied that demand was extremely high. An individual rifleman was interviewed and commented that he had purchased a case for each of his 12 rifles. That set him back $3200. My only question is that those among who hoard ammo also hoard toilet paper?

Dean - A private deal from a friend who started a gun club, sold it, but still retains access to their stock. Passed to thru to me with basically no markup.. Wish I'd bought more, but it's not fair for me to hoard his stock, since he's doing me a favor.
BTW, this guy is 85 years old, and shot a 93 at Sporting Clays last week with a 28 gauge. I want to be like him when I grow up |
Was in a small local shop yesterday to get some wads. I noticed they had Federal Top Gun, and Estate shells at $6.95 a box with a 4 box limit. Another small local shop had CCI 209 primers at $70/1000. That is crazy.

Here is an example of an EXTREME attempt to gouge.

I just saw that Federal has already started production of the Remington ammo. We shall see how this shakes down in the coming months.

I tried calling about getting some RST low pressure Ammo here in CA. Not available or any target loads either. It’s very frustrating.

And... No one is FORCING anyone to buy overpriced ammo. |
Ammo
A fellow skeet shooter was on the wait list a local sports shop in Lehigh Co. PA. He was able to purchase a flat of Federal Top Gun this week for $89 plus tax. Limit of 1 flat per customer.
He left after shooting 2 rounds. Needs to make his supply last a while. |
Ammo/Beer Run
Today was a very profitable/expensive day. Tennis got cancelled this morning, so made a beer run across state lines to Capelli's beer distributor in Washington, Pa--much better prices than here in Wheeling, so WTH, picked up 4 cases of Yuengling. Then on to a little business that sells reloading supplies on the side: picked up a couple thousand primers at $30/thousand, a few lbs of 20/28 powder and more shot. Price gouging has not hit here. Then cross country to see Brett Hoops, who had picked up a couple bags of shot for me a month ago. We ogled, weighed, and discussed our Parkers and future wants and needs, while his bird dogs listened intently( or maybe they were bored).
On the way home, got a call from my friend Mike who had just picked up a skid of dog food, several of us feed. So met him and took 6 bags. So I'm good for a while--plenty of shot, primers, and powder--plenty of beer and 4 months worth of dog food. |
Harold, what brand of primers did you get for $30. That is about what they should cost.
|
I got Cheddites, the Win 209's were $35--I have used cheddites before and never had any problem.

The house votes next week on a gun control bill, not sure if it's HR127 or not. Will look later.

HR127 was introduced by the “useful idiot” Shiela Jackson-Lee. She’s so far left she makes Occasional-Cortex look conservative. The bill has NO sponsors. These leftists on the fed and state level introduce anti-freedom bills every year knowing they will not pass. They can then tell their “constituents” that they tried. That doesn’t mean we sit back and watch. EVERYONE needs to be vigilant and tell their state and federal congresscritters to oppose these bills. Remember, don’t believe what comes out of their mouths, watch their actions.

aka Universal Background Checks already the rule in NY according to the unSafe Act |
Chucky Schemer has been trying for years to pass the “Universal Background Check”. They need that bill to establish a central registry of firearms/owners. Next step is confiscations. DOJ even tells them it will not prevent violent crime. They don’t care about reducing crime, the left wants to disarm and control us all. They want subjects, not citizens.

I have bought quite a few off the web. When i get home in a week or so I'll see what I have. A 180 is a light bullet in 358.

Light and fast. Speed thrills!!

On a chance, I stopped by a local range yesterday that has a large pro shop. Last time I was there, nada. Yesterday it was ammo heaven! Prices weren’t great but they were reasonable. Flats of shells stacked high. Full shelves of rifle and pistol ammo. It felt so 2019. They even had 6.5 Creedmor, thank God. It’s getting better. Hang in there and keep our purchases modest so the system can catch up and prices float down.
