I'll bring a bag of cherry stone clams for eating on the half shell. Plus fixins'
|
Huh... I always thought “littlenecks” was a marketing term for regular old clams but was a reference to Little Neck in Ipswich, MA...? Ipswich Bay having possibly the best clams in theworld.

Rain Date?
WX is looking a little wet. Hoping the report improves, but if it doesn’t, has a rain date been suggested?
|
Edgar, I have us down for Saturday March 27th, not February. I figured we would have a better chance at good weather in March. Sorry for any confusion, I'll check about a rain date when I talk with the sporting clays place in the next day or two.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone! |
Oops. Senior moment.

Edgar's new pup must have him worn out!

I only picked him up at the airport Saturday, and he’s worn out. They don’t build them like they used to.
|
Just got my first covid vaccination at the VA Hospital in Brockton today. My second shot is s scheduled for Friday march 26. Depending on how much or how little my body reacts to the second shot will determine if I can make this shoot. I am praying that the second shot reaction will be minimal and I'll make the shoot.
|
Sounds like fun. I have a lot of dusty Parkers.
|
I am glad that we have continued interest and enthusiasm for this shoot on Saturday 3/27. I didn't directly say this in my initial announcement, but please feel welcome to bring spouses, significant others, and friends. I am looking forward to a great time. I won't worry about the weather just yet...hopefully it's a little warmer and sunny :)
|
Presuming this is a 100 target course?
. |
Yes Dean, 100 target sporting clays and there is 5 stand as well if there is any interest afterward. Looking forward to this, I was just talking with the the owners about our event today. Then I had a wonderful time shooting the course with an 1874 Lifter.
I am looking forward to us all getting together on the 3/27! |
Jay, what about lunch? Should we pack a lunch and beverage?
|
Chuck, Yes I think it would be a good idea to bring lunch and drinks. It's was on my list to send out something about this earlier. We'll have space on their outdoor porch where we can sit, eat and talk Parkers :)

Hello Everyone,
We are less than a week away from this shoot on Saturday 3/27 at 9AM. I am hoping for another beautiful weekend like we just had in southern New England. I wanted to pass along some more information. Please fill out the Peace Dale Shooting Preserve Waiver before Saturday, which should speed things up in the morning - https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/5f78abf16acf1/web/ Don’t forget to bring a lunch so we can enjoy some time together after shooting. We will have some space and picnic tables outside and under cover if need be. There is a grill we can use as well. I’ll have a cooler with water for everyone. Looking forward to a good time and seeing and meeting fellow PGCA members. Spouses, significant others and friends are welcome as well. Should be a great time! |
Jay sound great looks like we will have a group of 4 if you are getting a head count.
See at 9 am on Saturday |
Jay,
Thanks again for putting this together. Another weekend like this past one would be perfect. I will be bringing my son, grandson, and another young man who is a new shooter. Should be a great time. Larry |
Jay, thanks for organizing this fun shoot. My second covid shot is this friday. If I dont have a severe reaction to the vac, I'll make it. If I dont show up, you'll know why.
|
I hope it all goes well Allen. My father who is 78 had minimal reaction to the second Moderna shot, which was good news as I was worried about him. He was taking his usual afternoon walk the next day. It affects everyone differently and I have heard good stories like my fathers and one's where it's a day or two of recovery.
Hopefully, we see you Saturday, if not it is certainly understandable. Good luck and talk to you soon... |
Jay, I'll be headed down from the Cape. See you there.
|
I’ll be there with Robin Lewis and my grandson Cam.
. |
I will be coming to shoot the breeze but not the gun due a recent surgery. Looking forward to seeing old faces and meeting new ones.

Who did, Robin?
I think he has one or two remaining. And I’m not being facetious. . |
I wish I could meet some of you folks. They're breaking ground on a new pond tomorrow on our property with the big work being done over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are two truisms in life: ONE, never trust your hunting or fishing guide to bring toilet paper. TWO, never trust your wife to over see your new bass pond and specifics. Wish I could make it, hope to see some of you at Rock Mountain for Mike's event.

I loaned him my 28” DH damascus 16. To show his appreciation, he bested me by one bird. :banghead: |
Sounds like a good time for sure. Hats off to Jay for sitting this up. It takes some time and effort but it's worth it IMO. Possibly the 1st of many to come ????
|
Thanks Randy! I am hoping we all have a good time and can do this shoot every year :)
|
If I bring shrimp cocktail, will anyone eat it?
My second vaccination at the Brockton VA was unexpectedly cancelled this morning. They ran out of doses. Our govt at work...had to be rescheduled, so I can shoot tomorrow. |
Great new Allen! I am glad you can make it and we will have a nice area for lunch after we shoot. I am looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I need to get my Parkers organized and ready for tomorrow. I will be shooting a 16 gauge top action hammer gun, but also have a few to bring for show and tell... Safe travels everyone and see you in the morning! |
I’ll be shooting one of my 16 hammer guns too and a 20 gauge Trojan and I might bring another... something.
I haven’t shot clays for almost two years so I’m probably a bit rusty but I did get new eyeglasses so that might even things out a bit. . |

Too bad about your vaccine but that’s Massachusetts for ya. . |
Dean, the VA didn't even give those of us who had appointments today for the covid shot, didn't have the deceny to call or text us of the cancelation. Yet we all got prior emails confirming our appointments. The other vets and I were pissed off.
The shrimp I'm bringing are extra large, you may only be able to eat one or two. Lol. I thought I would bring 3 Parkers, my grandfathers/dad's 16 that Lawrence rebuilt for me some number of years ago and 2 20 ga Repros that fell in my lap recently and that I've come to enjoy shooting. |
Allen you mentioned in another thread that the drop at comb on the repro was a problem and i said i had solved it by using a boot style slip on recoil pad there-by lengthening pull and bringing my cheek back. I will bring it tomorrow and you can see if it is what you need.
|
Thanks Dan, I'll try it. I did discover that if I put my cheek down hard on the stock that my shooting improved dramatically
|
I'll bring serial #97 so everyone can see a nice early Parker.
I have a few others as well, to show and hopefully get some opinions/advice on. Looking forward to a great time! |
