I made the decision to downsize a couple of years ago and sold some gave away some to nephews and Young hunting buddies. I was resolved not to leave the wife with the trouble of getting rid of the guns. this covid has skewed my reasoning. I bought a Fox Wildfowl and think I must have a 4 bore.
just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in! |

In anticipation of the Hillary BITCH in 2016 I bought several AR’s before the election . And over the uhm Trump years I’d let most go . But I’ve still got an AR-15 in 6.5 Grendel and an AR-10 with three uppers . Well all that stuff got listed on GB about two hours ago . And in the next week or so I suspect a dozen or so rifles and some others will be listed as well . I think the only semi auto rifles I’ll possess anylonger will be a pair of M1 carbines , a Ruger 44R and a Ruger 10/22 .

Shooting them

Andy, I don't want to shoot things like this too often. This is a first year of production Midas grade with 30" barrels.

I went through the safe thinking just what I could live without. There are to many 20's and 16's. While sorting through them it came to my attention that there is a 20 in ascending grades from a VHE to AHE:shock: Now I'll have to revaluate:rotf:

I did something I have only done one time before. I decided to unload some rifles and pistols that I had never shot. It seems like a great time to sell mediocre guns at high prices. Last time I unloaded a bunch of ss, wish I had keep 2 of them.
However this time I replaced them with 2 Winchester lever guns a 94 in 32 special and a model 64 deluxe in 30/30, and yes I don’t need any more rifles. I could not seem to let go of any ss yet, maybe later this year. After reading this forum I think I’m in need a a Damascus Parker. |
My gunsmith once told me "you can never have to many rifles". We stumbled on the last build for a caliber and settled on a 300 H&H. He smirked at the current project a custom #1 in 300 Savage. Maybe I do have to many rifles.
Damascus Parkers awe awesome and I'm privileged to have a couple in small bores. |
Larry, that is one nice firearm, I'm not sure I would take it out too often either. What a beauty, congrats!

Sold almost all of my nice ones and am adding those that have been customized and cobbled with. For some reason I have always like the customized ones over original condition..only two really nice one guns left for sale. A Hamilton Bowen custom Redhawk with all the bells and whistles and my Remington 1894 10 gauge CE. Still buying though and want to try a Marlin 90 and a few others on the list...
|
I have always liked the Marlin 90. I used to shoot trap with a guy who had a nice 90 and I shot my Parker Bros. DH. We always had fun competing with each other. He was pretty good with that nice 90 and I was pretty good with my DH.

Not actively looking to buy, but, if the right double would show up at the right time? Same for a trade or sale, if the right buyer was looking for the right gun.....? I do have a nice Howa 1500 100% camo in .308 Win that I would be willing to move right now. Even have a lot of ammo to go with it and load data for my reloads the gun loves to consume.

When do you think you'll graduate to 28's Allen? . |
Well I do have a nice Beretta 686 28 ga over under. But a Parker 28 ga in any grade is still a bit over my pay grade.

Dean, I do have my grandfathers 16 ga VH that he bought in Boston in 1927 and hunted with for a number of years until it killed him. I inherited it from my dad after he passed and about 12 years ago I drove out to Delgrego's shop and met with Lawrence and Babe to discuss a full and complete restoration. A year later I picked up a practically new 16 ga VH that has remained virtually untouched since then. All new wood, case colors, new bluing etc. My plan was to hunt with it and leave it to one of two cousins who bear the Newell name. Thus keeping it in the family. But I'm told neither of them have any interest in keeping it. So I'm considering putting it on the market. For reasons I dont fully understand, I dont shoot it as well as my other Parkers so it just sits in the gun safe and it deserves to be used and in a good home. 28 inch barrels.
I need to take pics of it and write it up. I may need your help Dean in posting it as I've never been successful in posting pics here. I should add that the reason I had a full restoration was that the original stock was oil soaked and punky, bluing was worn and case colors were gone. It needed full attention if it was to remain in the family. Late development: I received a birthday call this morning (2/20) from my second cousin, Chris Newell who lives in Naples, Florida. We talked and in the course of the conversation I asked Chris if he would like me to leave him the 16 ga Parker VH fully restored as noted above. Chris was ecstatic and said he'd love to have it as he has his Dad's Baker 16 and knows how important it is to keep these great guns in the family. He hunts and shoots down there. So my problem or dilemma is solved. |
I'm happy to help Allen.

I finally found the 12 ga big brother to my 16 ga Poli. I love, love that shotgun. And now I love, love the 12 ga. Something about those guns just speaks to me. I shoot them better than anything I’ve ever owned. But, my wife also speaks to me, so I am moving along my Model 21 Trap to offset the cost. One lesson I’ve learned, whenever I sell a gun, I give my wife her “cut”. I’m pretty sure it’s legal to bribe your wife.

I have found new homes for a pre64 M70 220 Swift and a grade 3 hammer gun. Now I need to decide do I really need 4 16ga hammer guns? I doubt it.
