I sent a package to Georgia in Sept. It sat in Elk Grove Village for 7 weeks.

Even small freight companies are unreliable. Had a local company scheduled to pick up 3 pallets of shelled pecans to be delivered to a customer this past Monday. ( purposely scheduled a week earlier then the customer requested to allow for any delays)Truck did not not show. They rescheduled for Wednesday again no show. Promised a pick up today and guess what a text a little while ago telling me cannot do it. I now need to rent a truck and make a 10 hour round trip to meet my commitment to my customer.

Last month I ordered my wife and I new cell phones. For some reason they sent mine by Canada Post and her's by Purolator Courier. Canada Post had longer expected delivery time and beat it by a day. Purolator's tracking website said her's missed a connection and then just stopped. After about a week and a half of no change I tried calling their telephone number. The recorded message said they were experiencing high volumes, suggested checking the website, and hung up. A couple of days after that I tried the automated chat on the tracking website. I typed in the tracking number and the machine said it missed a connection and was there anything else they could help with. I typed in a couple of more questions and each time the machine said it wasn't programed with a response to that guestion and was there anything else it could help with. While I thought of what to do next I typed in that it didn't help and was useless. It responded that it didn't appreciate my tone and language and froze the chat. Welcome to customer service in the 21st century.

Problem is, with a cashiers check, they are very difficult to stop.

So, we have to wait it out.

The problem for me is, this is the EXACT gun I have been looking for for a very long time.... And, now must wait because of PO.... arrgh!

We've had to stop payment on a couple cashiers checks that we assume lost in the mail . Anyway Bank of America requires 30 or 90 days (don't remmember which) before they'll stop payment .

Mine is with US Bank, and they said 90 days. They are hard to stop for a reason..... So, if it comes to that, I'll be out a bit of cash til that all gets settled. Problem is, if I send the guy another check.... I am afraid it suffers the same fate, I rek'n if it comes to that, it'll go fedex.

Still sitting at dist center right now, no new updates.....

Luckily I don't have any big money items hanging out there, but I do have a few small items that are taking forever to arrive. Monday I spent almost an hour in line at the post office to mail three packages; when I got within site of the counter...one window was open :cuss:. I ordered a couple things on Amazon prime this morning which are supposed to be 2-day delivery; will be interesting to see if they make it.

Those photos are something else.

Now... Lets forget the current (and hopefully temporary) third world state of the postal service and look at this positively. That is that usually our Postal system is a shining example of how to get things done in this country and just think that in a normal year, volumes like this would be handled with no issue, not to mention the volume they see year round.

Amen, Brian. We need to be mad at the ChiComs, not our own.

Got a call today, my check finally arrived at it's destination over the weekend..... I shipped on 12/3 and it got there 12/26, not bad for priority mail eh? hahaha

Anyway, just happy it finally got there at this point, and he can ship my gun to me now. Afterall, I really needed another 16ga anyway.

Just hope it doesn't go on a similar journey......

Joseph if it were me I would insist that the shipper does not use USPS at this time. IMO you have zero chance of receiving your shipment in a timely manner. As of now even the over night items with guaranteed delivery are not making it on time. Surely some are but not the packages that I have sent. The good news would be that monies are refunded on guaranteed over night deliveries that fail to make it on time. Good luck !

I have asked for UPS or Fedex. Also, asked them to ship with the gun broke down, as gun length boxes have a way of getting damaged. Two different long guns broke at the wrist now, one out bound, the other inbound.

The gun is a 16ga Ithaca NID Grade 2. So, would hate to see it's stock snapped in two like that.

The Good at USPS

On a positive note; a guy sent me a check from upstate New York postmarked 12/22 and it got here (Utah) on 12/26 - with Christmas in the middle. All for $.55!:)

FedEx was prompt with my new (to me) 16ga hammergun. Now I just need RST to do their part so I can get this beauty in the field.

You'll never need to worry if RST will "do their part."

Morris and the RST team is prompt in doing everything the law allows.

Joseph Sheerin 12-29-2020 10:32 AM

I did get confirmation the shotgun will be shipped UPS. I also asked that it be shipped broken down, and they are going to do that. Something about those long gun boxes that they just seem to get damaged.......

Now, just hoping the gun is as described because it's the exact gun I have been looking for, for a couple years now..... Let the next waiting game begin...

The concern shouldn't be with RST themselves, it's the overall shortages of ammunition and component supplies I'm concerned about.

I looked at the RST web site the other day and they have the majority of their products listed as out of stock. I'm starting to get concerned if these smaller specialty businesses will be able to make it through our current times. On one hand it's great they have had banner sales in the short term, but on the other hand, if they can't get the components & supplies to replenish their stocks, what will that mean for the long haul.

I am currently dealing with that now.
I have been selling a TON of Remington 1100 and 700 parts on eBay. Most of the parts ship in a padded envelope as a flat and without tracking. I anticipated I would be dealing with people asking where their parts are. And it has started yesterday. People opening claims with eBay and demanding refunds. Negative feedback, accusations of me not shipping the items... are these people living in a dark hole or something? I simply ask for patience and understanding. I will not entertain refunds for at least another few weeks because of the situation Jerry explains above. You give a refund and then the item shows up..

Heck, I still have a gun out there that I shipped on Dec. 2nd. to PA from NY! It moves here and there. It is currently finally in Harrisburg.

I am really curious to know if some sort of class action will end up being brought against USPS when all this is said and done with.

Eight days ago I sent a Priority Mail envelope to Savanah GA from central VA . Shoulda been there in 3 or 4 days . I looked at the tracking number today and to my astonishment it said delivered TODAY . Granted Xmas Covid19 yadda yadda yadda but those excuses are way past getting old .

Mills Morrison 12-31-2020 04:07 AM

I am waiting on a priority mail from NC and I am confident it is just hung up in the same kind of bs as mentioned above. I sent a package 2 day to the same address to get there by Xmas and sure hope it made it. I guess we should give them a break because of the holidays, but we have never had this many problems in previous years.

While I totally agree holidays etc slow things down I just wonder anymore how much is actually because of what they say or rather they’ve gotten so used to that excuse they use it while house now . Seems as if the time honored process of “I pay you for your service and you agree to do it in a timely manner” have gone out the window and are a pipe dream now .

Cookies/USPS

We sent several packages, via Priority, of Christmas cookies to in-laws in Rock Hill, SC on 8 December. Email yesterday they were in the Brooklyn, NY distribution center but no where to be found. We suspect the Elves took them up to the North Pole.

HAPPY New Year.

Herb Hewlett 12-31-2020 10:06 AM

USPS

I understand Sara's predicament .We did not go to usual family Chriistmas gathering so instead we sent some cooked food that we usually make for the Holiday . Overnight express cost $35.00 ,distance 200 miles, package did not arrive for 4 1/2 days, food spoiled.
I luckily followed the tracking # and printed out the fact that after 4 days they were still guaranteeing me delivery in 24 hours !
They had spoiled the Christmas spirit.
Next day I went to the Post office after trying to complain on line and the post office telling me that the package was stolen off a porch.
Local post person said this obviously was not your fault. Delivery was guarenteed and issued me a check for the entire amount.
The point of this long winded story is maybe if it costs them enough in refunds
they will improve service.

Phil Yearout 12-31-2020 11:38 AM

I sent packages to two members here on December; anticipated delivery was shown as December 18 and 19 respectively. As of this morning the tracking info on both still said the same thing as the message Sara received above, and hasn't been updated since the 19th or so. Sorry guys :cuss:!

Craig Budgeon 01-01-2021 12:46 AM

The only time any post office in this country made money was during the Civil War when the CSA made money all 4 years.

Paul Ehlers 01-01-2021 11:17 AM

After watching this thread when combined with my recent personal experiences. I've come to the conclusion that there is currently some alarmingly large systemic problems with the USPS.

Everything I've ordered in the last two months has arrived in a normal time frame if it was shipped through carriers other than USPS, on the other hand everything shipped through the USPS system has been slow, late or in a couple of cases lost completely and this includes my daily mail.

I have no idea of the many possible causes of these problems or if they'll be resolved anytime soon. All I know for sure is I won't use the USPS to send anything of value or that needs to arrive in a timely manner until things smooth out with the USPS.

Conversely, I ordered something on 12/27, delivery was quoted at Jan. 7 to Jan. 14, and I received it yesterday! Go figure...

Richard Flanders 01-01-2021 11:57 AM

I've had a few Amazon orders pending for some time. One tracked as having been put into my mailbox on Nov 19, which was not true as I was here. A few days ago I got a notice from Amazon that it had been returned by the carrier and they had given me a refund. Go figure. Another small order tracked as being stuck in a facility in NJ for three weeks. They gave me a refund on that one despite me not wanting it once they told me that the package was actually on the way in my direction. A few days later it arrived here. Very unreliable service during the holiday season.

edgarspencer 01-01-2021 03:20 PM

The solution is very simple. Get Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk to take over the post office. Bezos will get it here before you get up from your computer, and if you don't like it, Musk will pick it up, return it to the sender and put it back on the shelf.
