There is a lot of planning and preparation to make this event happen. There is also nonrefundable fees
to reserve th facility. Without knowing if the Southern would even happen, the Board decided to wait a year.

Harold Lee Pickens 01-29-2021 10:07 AM

I'm 50/50 right now. Probably wouldnt get there until Wed evening. I could use a get away, and besides someone has to be there to control Brett Hoops.

Brett Hoop 01-29-2021 10:40 AM

Harold

Very true, and thank you for your concern. I am getting better, last time I only bought a book and a Parker vise. This year I may not even attempt to compete for the oyster record at the Sea Breeze.

Harold Lee Pickens 01-29-2021 10:51 AM

Just let me carry your wallet, and we will avert any crisis.

Brett did you mean the Bay Breeze possibly or is there a Sea Breeze ? I have not been to either so you and Harold may need to drag me along one evening to expand my horizons.

Brett Hoop 01-29-2021 12:38 PM

Randy

Your likely correct, it's on N. Horner 1400 block. You'd be welcome anytime. Fried, but I hear if you cut it after with a bit of bourbon or Scotch it's healthier.

Bill Murphy 01-29-2021 05:36 PM

Please start a new thread for Hausmann's or participate with another thread. This thread is too busy with the Southern.

Bob Hayes 01-30-2021 03:58 PM

Just got my reservations for hotel and spoke with a couple venders.
Excitement in the air.

keavin nelson 01-30-2021 04:44 PM

Room is booked as is a cart! Will be in Friday am. First year for me, and looking forward to it!

Chuck Bishop 01-30-2021 05:33 PM

Keavin, what's the price on the cart?

Craig Larter 01-30-2021 06:14 PM

Room booked, fingers crossed.

Brian Dudley 01-30-2021 06:29 PM

I too have booked a room. And the rest is based on the event happening.

Bob Hayes 01-30-2021 07:11 PM

Venders are booked I'm sure Deep River is needing this and besides all everyone has to do is one person per golf cart. That cleaned things up nice here in Florida on the golf course.

Are you saying that only one person is allowed on a cart?

When I ordered mine the lady said 2 person , 4 person or 2 person with a back . I took the 2 with a back area . If this thing comes off I’ll take a passenger if they want a ride !

Bob Hayes 01-30-2021 07:58 PM

The powers that be decided when opening things up that we could play golf but only one person per cart here in Florida.Been that way for months.Foursome with four carts.

Crazier than who's President right now???
Not to worry we're going to Sanford thank God

Rick Roemer 01-31-2021 08:48 AM

Room booked. Probably getting there Thursday evening

CraigThompson 01-31-2021 06:24 PM

If I arrive on Tuesday as planned how far is that Drakes place from Sanford ? Thinking if I get down there by noon I might go to Drakes and shoot a round .

CraigThompson 01-31-2021 06:34 PM

I just googled the place seems they’re not open on Tuesday . So much for that idea ! But I did mapquest and it was saying 40-42 minutes from Sanford .

Bob Hayes 01-31-2021 07:31 PM

Its not that far I've shot there several times I think 30mins.Nice couple of tracks

Mike Koneski 01-31-2021 08:32 PM

We arrive late Tuesday afternoon. The pump gun and black powder are on Wednesday. We have rooms at the Bay Breeze too. Tell me about the oysters!! I like oysters!! Sent my registration in by fax today. Only 13 events plus Challenge events this year for me. 😁😁

Bill Murphy 02-04-2021 06:11 PM

The Bay Breeze is a hotel??

Mike Koneski 02-04-2021 06:28 PM

Bill, it’s not just a fancy drink with a tiny umbrella in it anymore.

Joe Graziano 02-04-2021 11:51 PM

Room and cart booked! Can’t wait.

Steve Pacilio 02-17-2021 09:11 PM

I thought pump gun and black powder events were Thursday?

No sir, the pump, black powder and muzzle loader are Wednesday so they don’t interfere with the regular events.

The schedule says April 22 which is Thursday.

Mike Koneski 02-18-2021 08:19 AM

I thought it was Wednesday! My bad. Those are the only events on the course Thursday. I’m hoping the sub-gauge and 10g Challenge events are Wednesday. I will find out.

Mike Koneski 02-18-2021 03:08 PM

Got in touch with Rick. He said the "dove field" will be set up for practice Wednesday. The small gauge challenge will be shot on Thursday and the main challenge will qualify all day Friday and Saturday morning. Not sure about the 10g?

Okay I’ve asked before about chokes for the course if my memory is correct I was told IC/M was plenty . But for the five stand challenge thing are they typically longer targets ?

Randy G Roberts 02-20-2021 06:30 AM

Not all of them Craig but Rick generally has a couple with a little length. I would prefer my open tube to be a M on the challenge course based upon the past few years.

Mike Koneski 02-20-2021 11:25 AM

Choke is irrelevant. Put the muzzles at the right place and the bird will break, Grasshopper.

Mike Koneski 02-20-2021 11:28 AM

The Hammer Gun Challenge will be shot Sunday AM to early afternoon. Shoot to qualify and usually the top 5 or 10 scores from each team will be the official Challenge scores and will determine the Team and individual winners.

Mills Morrison 02-26-2021 08:47 AM

The Southern is still on and we even have some folks who weren’t coming changing their minds and coming! Tom Archer and I have been monitoring the situation closely.

I encourage those on the fence to make plans to come. It will be great to see some old friends after a long hiatus

Mills Morrison 03-03-2021 09:22 AM

All ahead full! Please make plans to come if you can. Several folks who were not coming have changed their minds.

Mike Koneski 03-03-2021 11:10 AM

We're arriving Tuesday late afternoon. Bringing plenty of ammo. Shooting Drake Landing Wednesday AM and everything I can at Deep River Thursday-Sunday.
