I think I am going to be out late New Year's Eve, so doubt I will be there. Enjoyed seeing everyone last year. Until Greenwich.

For those of you who are attending, I'll be bringing along about twenty 2011 calendars which I've designed with fellow PGCA Member Scott Gentry (THANK YOU SCOTT!!!).. Since these are kind of expensive to print off (I'm using my high-end photo printer), I'll ask that maybe one per person would be OK? They are printed on 11x17 heavy-weight archival rag photo paper with archival ink, so they should last should you want to frame them..
My best to all - and Scott - thank you again for permission to use your excellent photograph!!! John |
Thank You kind sir!......
|
Wow John!! Nice! I'd like five of them :smiley7:

Scott, The weatherman say's mid 40's! Somehow it just doesn't seem quite right.... Should be a great day!

Oh yes now I realize that you would prefer those conditions as they make for a great excuse on missing targets :rotf: On another note Scott and I realized after shoveling the walkways and pads that the club has made some significant improvments, (another PAT trap and some new skeet machines), however....they got rid of the old wooden gun racks we dragged in the house and replaced them with some very heavy recycled plastic ones. Most of them only have every other space that will accomodate a double gun (not too many discriminating shooters using the place it seems). Not sure how many of those monsters we can drag inside to display guns but we'll try. |
OK so far attendees are:
Pete L, Scott k, Bob Fabian, Bill Janelle?, Dave Suponski, Danny Suponski, Dean Romig, John Dunkle, Bob Weeman, Robin Lewis, Frank Cronin, Austin Hogan. Is that it, have I missed anybody? |
Possibly four more who are not on your list? Scott, Hal, Scott and Ned....
|
uummmm???
Hi folks..! I'm getting quite a few PMs and E-Mails about the Parker Calendar above, to ask if they will be available to others who are not able to attend the New Years Day shoot..?? I don't know - as these are printed individually on my systems and printers..?? So - let's get through the New Year Day shoot and along with Scott G. - he and I will come to some decision, OK? As I'm really fussy about print quality - I'd rather NOT just post up a JPEG/JPG, or PDF or PSD, as the quality of your home printer will determine the quality of the final print... Anyway - let me think about this for a bit, OK?? And yep - if you are a current PGCA Member - Scott & I will try to get you set?? BUT - these are expensive to print in the quality and quantity doing it from my archival photo printers - which at 13x19" (the largest format I can do with my high-end photo printers) - look simply OUTSTANDING!!..?? I've already framed one for my office in a 24x27" frame/mat ;) Thanks to all..!!! John |
john, let me know how much, i would love to pay for one. ya, that is what it said, pay :rotf: scott

A couple from today as well....
What a FANTASTIC DAY!!! Thanks to all for making it all it was.... It was terrific..!! I'll post more later - but I have six guns to clean - and I shot only THREE??? (Dean - a "PEA SHOOTER"???!! :cuss:) Best to all - and thank you!!! John |
Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come out today and shoot. The Major Waldron's Sportmans Association did well once again thanks to you all. A total of 56 rounds of either trap or skeet being shot.
Parker shooters in attendance were, myself, Scott Kittredge, Bill Janelle, John Dunkle, Bob Weeman, Bob Fabian, Frank Cronin, Austin Hogan, Robin Lewis, Dean Romig, Dave & Danny Suponski and Greg Miller. (If I missed somebody speak up). Thanks to Bob Fabian, Robin Lewis and Bob Weeman we had some very yummy food for lunch. Bob Fabian's homemade mac and cheese with ham was the best mac and cheese I have ever had! The informal 100 target program consisted of 50 trap targets, 25 skeet and 25 modern skeet. 12 Parker shooters completed the program. The reigning champ from 2009 and 2010 felt sorry for me and shot his last round of skeet left handed with his eyes closed leaving the door open for me to take Hi Gun with an 89, 2nd was Scott Kittredge, 83, 3rd Frank Cronin 72. We also shot a modified Annie Oakley or Protection with 5 two man squads shooting from the 27 yard line. Each two man team was a 12ga shooting first with a 10ga shooter backing him up. The winning team was Austin Hogan 12ga and Frank Cronin 10ga (Fortunately for Austin, Frank had used up all his BP loads and then proceeded to beat me with my own reloads!) Frank Cronin stole the show by shooting trap with a 12+ lb, 34" 5 frame 10ga hammergun and shooting 4 dram blackpowder 1 1/4 ounce loads. Standing anywhere near the trap line you could feel the ground shake each time he pulled the trigger. A big thank you to John Dunkle who brought a most wonderful Parker Gun calendar door prize for each shooter. The NH weather today was simply fantastic, bright sun and a high of 58 degrees, it just doesn't get much better than that for this time of year in NH. A happy, healthy and prosperous 2011 to everyone involved! |

Here are some more pictures, great collection of guns! Before the shooting began everyone stood around the gun rack and checked things over. We had a few new faces so we got to meet and get to know one another and talk to "old" friends too.
:corn:Then the shooting began but it wasn't easy to get everyone going. Organizing the squads was not easy and the start was a little slow but once the gang got going there was a lot of fun and laughs. :shock:If you are wondering why John is rummaging around in the trash bucket.... I am too. The last pictures are of a squad shooting skeet, note no blowing snow and no heavy coats this year! Great day! Only 365 more days and we do it again, I hope! |
Before I get back to gun cleaning.....
A special thanks to Pete Lester who really did a FANTASTIC job at keeping all the shooters in the right squads and things moving along throughout the day.. Pete - I know your role is sort of like herding wet, angry cats across an open field with a wet noodle, but you did an incredible job... Thank you... The food was wonderful... Robin, Bob F., Kathy, Bob w., Pete (if I forgot a few, sorry!!!) - simply amazing... Congrats to Scott K. for almost being the high-gun for the day, again (it's about time - but I heard you lost by 1/2 a target????? ;) ) I also understand Bill & I tied for "some place"? To the rest of the folks.... I simply had a wonderful time.... John |
Danny and I had a wonderful time as usual! How often do you get to shoot in a t-shirt on New Years Day?! Great food...great people and some fantastic Parker Gun's...must have been 30-40 Parkers there. Everything from .410 to 10 gauge.
Pete, Thanks for putting on a great shoot..... |
You guys look way too comfortable for Jan 1!

Here are the assembled shooters. Chairman Pete is third from left. I arrived home to recieve a Happy New Year from my daughter Alice; she watched the New Year festivities in Edmonton at 0F
Best, Austin |
I echo what everyone has said already regarding today's shoot -- a FANTASTIC time! Thanks Pete and everyone else who made this NYD shoot happen today. I'm sure a lot of planning and work was involved and words fail to say how we appreciate all what you did and inviting us to your club.
I still can't get over the weather today... people were passing by riding their Harleys! Thanks to all and sorry for all the smoke!! Frank |

I agree, the smoke was fun but what was even cooler was shooting next to you and the shock wave that passed over after the shot.
Can you imagine what pigeon shoots must have been like back in the day! Great fun! |
Robin, you showed incredible focus and determination shooting next man to the right of Frank. His clouds of white smoke drifted across in front of you but, undaunted, you called for your bird anyway and continued to crush them through the obscurity of those heavy clouds crushing clay after clay after clay!!:bowdown::cheers: to ya my friend!! And you didn't even need assistance as you left the field suffering the obvious effects of shellshock.

What the Sportsman Needs
As to "shooting", there was some fine shooting going on. I have it on good authority that the gentlemen dressed up to look like our own Mr. Hogan, was in fact the internationally known shooting authority Mr. Bogardus. That was some fine "shooting flying" with a rather unusual Hammer Gun.
I felt fortunate that we were not shooting for money, as a certain gentlemen with a borrowed gun chambered for something that looked more like a rifle sized round than a shell that belongs in a gun was turning in some impressive scores. This was the first time I had seen a grade Parker .410 shot and it was giving up few birds on the skeet range. If we could somehow turn back the clock to let the Hon. Chas. Parker know that his work and the work of his children was still being enjoyed so many generations after his passing, I do not believe he would be surprised, but I do hope he would be pleased. We are but a link in the chain that starts with the first Parker gun and will continue until the last Parker gun is gone. I am pleased to report that as of 2011 the Parker Gun is alive and well. Thank you to all who made this shoot possible. Happy New Year! |

Glad to hear you gentlemen had such a great day to have the shoot. That is certainly an impressive group of parkers in those racks.
I just can't let it go without comment that the picture below shows great form and great "wood to wood". It seems all those lessons Mr. Anderson has been so gracious to extend have finally begun to sink in. That alone will strike fear into the hearts of any and all Fox shooters brave enough to show up at Addieville this May. |
do you think that is hard wood or soft wood ?,i am not talking about the stock :bigbye: boy did i have fun!!! thanks for showing up and for all the nice guns to look at.
|
Hardwood for sure. And did you notice it echo's when the Parker stock recoils into it on almost every shot taken.
