I am a vent rib guy, but I don't have anything like those guns. Congratulations.

I could not do a long car trip with my brittany in the car and not in a crate

Randy G Roberts 04-16-2019 10:35 PM

I'm going to bring it to the Southern. Shot some skeet with it last Tuesday. It's pretty tight. Looked really good on some stations, not so good on others. It's a nice gun for sure. You have all probably seen it, you just don't recall where ?????:corn:

Rich Anderson 04-17-2019 08:44 AM

The Hollywood gun is a 16 two barrel vent rib set also but it won't be making the trip but the 32 inch VR 16 will be there ready to crush targets with it's F/F chokes. Randy if you want to take her for a dance on the 5 stand your more than welcome to do so.
Randy whats the barrel length on your 20??

Mills Duke "the pup" will definitely be in a crate.

Rich I'm surprised you had to ask :) Like I said it's a twin to your gun, 32".

Rich Anderson 04-17-2019 08:54 AM

Just making sure as I sold one a few years ago that looks similar to your gun. Boy was that ever stupid:banghead::banghead:

I won’t have a name tag, but I’ll be at Drakes on Thursday, and at the Southern on Friday and Saturday. Looking forward to it and seeing everyone!

Sara

Randy G Roberts 04-23-2019 08:25 PM

Update

Another fun Southern is in progress with lots of shooting lots of guns and gear changing hands and, best of all, lots of fellowship with friends old and new.

Bill Murphy 04-27-2019 11:22 AM

I thought I was through shopping for Parkers after almost 60 years of doing that. However, after reading this thread, I guess it's time to go shopping again.

Thank you all for the compliments but the truth is a lot of folks chipped in to make the event a success

Also thanks to everyone for making PGCA mascot, my son Mills, feel so welcome

John Davis 04-27-2019 10:16 PM

Great job Mills. And I hope Mills, Jr. had a good time. Looked like he was having fun. John

Mills Morrison 04-28-2019 10:03 AM

He was having fun and still is

The Southern was a great time. If you have never been you are missing one of great, classic events in the vintage gun world. There will be another great event at Hausman’s in September when the PGCA holds it’s annual meeting and awards banquet.

I just got back to my room in Sanford after watching the Muzzleloader event. My eyes are still watering. Those boys put a lot of smoke in the air. It was a great weekend and I agree that if you have not done this before you need to make the trip. I have lost count of how many PGCA members that I met over the weekend. Had the chance to shoot a round with Bruce Day which was fun. Spent a good deal of time chatting with a lot of good Parker aficianados. One of my best Southerns and I never bought a gun. The name badges work great. Time to start planning for next year. Thanks to everyone for your generosity.

Gary Carmichael Sr 04-28-2019 05:23 PM

The youth shoot was a great success this year had 11 shooters in all age groups, maybe some photos will be forthcoming from some that were snapping photos, Gary

Mills Morrison 04-28-2019 05:28 PM

Congratulations to L C Smith for their victory in the hammer gun challenge!

Reggie Bishop 04-28-2019 06:57 PM

My time at the Southern was short but very enjoyable. What a pleasure it was meeting Bruce Day, Chuck Bishop, Bob Hayes, Mike McKinney , Randy Roberts, Brian Hornacek, and probably someone I have forgotten. What a great display of 20 gauge guns including Gary C's hammer 20s!

Mark Ray 04-28-2019 07:34 PM

We had a great time at our first Southern. All the folks were super nice! Shot the 80 Round main event today with my custom stom Sterly 16. Very schizo...cleaned 7 stations, including the difficult 4 pair last station....but also had two 1’s, and two 3’s. Im pretty sure it was the guns fault.

Got a 20 piece galazan turnscrew set for $30, and a few other “doo-dads”. Almost made it out relatively unscathed, until a pristine LC Smith .410, and a Flues 28, decided they needed to follow me home.

Enjoyed meeting and putting names with faces many regulars here in the forum. Thanks to all for fielding my naive questions!!

We really enjoyed the HOF dinner.

Reggie Bishop 04-28-2019 07:39 PM

I looked at a grade 4 Ithaca Flues 28, Mark. But I left it on the table. I saw several Parkers that I liked but I didn’t buy anything.

Mark Ray 04-28-2019 08:02 PM

I think I saw that gun too...it was nice...almost went in on a VH 20 straight stocked gun that was not monkeyed with...the little ithaca I bought is a field grade, 26” gun that weighs a hefty 4lbs 8oz. Very honest gun, aroung 80% overall, tight with nice bores. The Elsie .410 is 95% plus, 3” gun with 26” barrels, and dual bead raised solid rib. The only detractor at all is some checking on the shellac on the butt. Also looked at a very nifty 32” VHE no safety pigeon gun.

All in all had a great time, including the “pig picking” last night, featuring a really cool little blue grass band.

Ed Blake 04-28-2019 08:34 PM

Can someone post the 10, 16, and 20 gauge results? Thanks

Randy G Roberts 04-28-2019 08:54 PM

Mark your BIGGEST find was most likely a very special ring, maybe I should call it a recovery. Lucky couple. Glad it worked out. Good meeting you.

Bob Hayes 04-29-2019 12:02 AM

This year was really a great weekend.Enjoyed meeting many of you this year and the dinner Friday night. The whole evening was extremely enjoyable.Name badges were awesome what a difference it made.
Shooting at Drakes was fun and will definitely do that again and join the fun at Deep River next year.I realized one thing that it's harder to make a purchase while toting a gun around shooting clays.

Bill Murphy 04-29-2019 08:07 AM

Ed, yesterday, Bill Kemfler had all the scores posted on his website. The main event should be posted today.
