Since my last post Nellie got her AKC Senior Title. Yesterday at 15 months she flushed and retrieved to hand her first woodcock. Opening day for ducks is this Saturday and she will experience her first of many waterfowl hunts.

This is fantastic!! What a great photo too! Good luck with the ducks!

Nellie turns 2 on June 26th 2020. She passed her first AKC Master Hunt Test this past weekend in Ohio. The master test is no walk in the park. Three triple retrieves, one land, one water and one land/water, an honor while another dogs runs, a walk up to one of the triples, a double blind, a single blind with a diversion shot. Marks in Master can not exceed 150 yards. Pretty proud of my little girl, she is hell on ducks and ready for another duck season. She is the dog on the left. She needs 4 more Master ribbons to title as a Master Hunter.

Little Miss Nellie finished up the summer hunt test season with 3 UKC Finished passes and 2 AKC Master Hunter passes. She's ready to go for her second hunting season. At just over 2 she is a talented dog and a joy to own.

Will you be hunting both of them in SD this year?
|
Daryl: Yes we have 5 hunters in our group and 7 labs!! I am taking Nellie and Lucy, do you believe Lucy is 10 years old. I got a waterfowl license so hoping to duck hunt if they have water.
|
We will try and leave a few for seed for you guys. Right now there are ducks and with 7 labs that will be a sight to see. Wish your damn duck season didn't open so soon as I'd love to be there with your crew.

The weather finally changed and the birds started to move, Nellie had a red letter day in a skim ice cover marsh in northern NY. Pretty proud of my little girl.

Craig should indeed be proud. Beaming proud!
I have been on my share of hunts and behind many many dogs but this dog is "the one"! This dog is possessed when she hunts. I have never seen drive and strength and handling all wrapped up into one dog like this.... and she is only 2 years+ old. The two dots represent locations of crippled geese that she broke ice then chased down 15 and 25 yards into the frozen rice and dragged back to all of our amazement! Much more to come from Nellie for sure! |
Not much more that I can add other than great shooting and congrats to Craig and Nellie for a job WELL done.
|
That is great! Looking forward to getting into the ducks this Saturday

Nellie had another big day in central NY. Hunted with buddies and she made 23 retrieves, lost two cripples. As you can tell from her look in the picture she was pooped. The water temps are just above freezing. She made some nice retrieves that without a dog we would have never found the birds. As they say the best conservation tool is a Lab!!
