Holy cow! Really shook me out of my Sunday evening apathy seeing this gun. This is really and example of art and not just decoration.

I must admit, after drooling over some of the extreamly life-like dogs on the many Lefevers at Hausmans the two mutts on the side of this DH 28 gage leave much to be desired.
wish them mutts were mine.... charlie
Beautiful to say the least! Engraving on those guns are something to behold, but that's what I think sets Parker guns ahead of other makers, yea I know, I am going to get some feedback on that comment! Like they say at a strip show, show me more!

Here are some pictures of a few of my stray (non Parker ) dogs. The first is a very early Pigeon grade model 12 which is a two barrel set. Please don't black ball me from this site for posting pictures of a pump gun...:nono:
The second set are from a fine side by side. Lets see if anyone can name the model and grade. Jared V. |
Is the double a Philadelphia Arms Fox? Is it a C-Grade?
I'll take a stab at a Philadelphia Arms Co. but I don't know the grades.
Jared, How about Philadelphia Arms D Grade? Am I close?
Philadelphia Arms D grade it is. I believe it is only D Grade PAC gun known.
Jared, Looks to be a wonderful gun! Congratulations! May we see some more pictures?.....please...

Here are few more pictures of the D Grade Philly Arms Co... Enjoy.
Easy to see why Ansley Fox had Patent infringement issues with the PAC guns. Or is that just an old unsubstantiated rumor? I would like to think this Fox was in his hands for a little while. JJV |
Great pictures...Thank You! There looks to be some serious choke in that "Ol Girl".
Dave 3o" barrels that are both about as full as full can be. I had the ivory bead replaced that was broken with a period original. Other than that small detail, she's mechanically great and original, just like she left Philadelphia.
Jared, that is a great gun and certainly one to be proud of.
It looks like Anschutz wasn't the only engraver who scratched out anatomically correct male dogs. And all along we thought Parker had the corner on that...:rotf: |
A few more D grades
