Parker Pages

Noted on line that the fall issue of the Parker Pages was being received by everyone but me. Then remembered that my address was changed two months ago. How would I go about getting my new address in the system.

Dean Romig 09-08-2017 08:55 PM

Send a PM to Mary Bowes, our membership coordinator and keeper of the PGCA mailing list.

Super duper issue. Thanks to the editors and contributors.

George Davis 09-08-2017 10:08 PM

Haven't got my issue so I'm assuming my Pony Express Rider was ambushed by weather, hostiles, exhaustion or his horsed died.

Rick Riddell 09-10-2017 05:40 PM

Nothing here in Maine either! Getting jealous!

Dave Noreen 09-10-2017 07:15 PM

Made it to the Washington/Idaho border Saturday the 9th.

George Davis 09-12-2017 07:33 PM

Parker Pages made to Arizona today September 12. Mail man looked exhausted with today's high of 110 degrees and their vehicles lacking air conditioning.

Christian Gish 09-13-2017 11:45 PM

Parker Pages arrived in SOCAL today.Fred

I was at sea transporting a load of gasoline, and diverting from our scheduled course (which would have been Tampa), when my copy of the Fall issue was delivered. So, it was today, being now home, that I had an opportunity to start reading it. I have learned about Dean Romig's singular experience discovering the John Elliott family 20 gauge, and just finished with the first of a number of essays on the Parker Mystique -- the piece by Mike Franzen, the originator of the new column.

Were I to put the newsletter down right now (which I won't) there is nothing I would have needed to read, view, or listen to for the rest of the evening for me to be thoroughly entertained. And, stirred as well, as the 20 gauge Elliott skeet gun article moved me to compare the engraving on my father's 1915-issue DHE 12 gauge, with the Remington-era DHE engraving depicted in the piece. Now, if I could only find out whose initials those are on the shield of Dad's DHE....

Next up for me to read are further contributions in the new column, which are sure to be engaging.

Only PGCA Members receive this publication, right?

Thank you Mike Franzen for your idea for such a column, for your riveting essay, and many thanks to the many volunteer contributors, editors and activists behind PARKER PAGES For the American Sportsman.

Dean Romig 09-17-2017 11:01 PM

Yes Russ, only PGCA Members receive Parker Pages, as well as our paying advertisers each receiving a single proof copy.

And thank you for your eloquent praise for all who contributed to make this a very fine issue.

You're welcome Edgar. I would also like to again thank all of the members who took the time to put down their thoughts and helped create the article. Now get out there and show your friends and family what you did. Who knows, they may even become infected by The Parker Mystique. :-)

Red over white over red?

I thought you retired. I'm jealous.

Russell E. Cleary 09-18-2017 07:30 PM

Edgar:

For us there was no requirement for red over white over red, as we were not restricted in ability to maneuver. Just pushing a loaded barge down the East Coast, so white over white.

No, not retired yet; that would put too much of a crimp on my buying stuff I want, but don't need.

This thread keeps reminding me that i have still not gotten my PP yet.
I will have to place a call to Mr. Hall soon for a replacement.

John Dallas 09-18-2017 08:55 PM

Dean Romig 09-18-2017 09:04 PM

My apologies to anyone who hasn't received their copy yet. It is and always has been a problem with the USPS delivery system. Can't wait for the postal system to be privatized!!!
