Self-serving rationalizing....

Rick Losey 03-04-2015 09:29 PM

yup - absolutely

I camped for years of French and Indian war reenacting - no modern nothing -

a bed and breakfast is rough enough of us these days

Frank Srebro 05-01-2015 06:03 PM

So our landscape people were here today for spring cleanup. My owner friend told me one of his crews was doing some gas pipeline remedial work out near Hausmann's on Tuesday of this week. And believe it or not they ran into frost in the ground at a depth of 2.5 feet. Coldest winter in exactly 100 years according to the records. Maybe things will thaw by June?

I had a first-hand report from an excavator operator of frozen ground 5' deep in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.

Given the political leanings of the majority of Vermonters, That just proves there is a God, and he!! almost did freeze over.

Matt Valinsky 05-04-2015 01:18 PM

God willing and the creek don't rise I'll be camping again this year. Anyone from Ohio who might like to make the trip and share my camp, give me a shout. I guess it would make sense travel wise if you were from south of US 70.

Rich Anderson 05-04-2015 01:20 PM

I'll be camping at The Inn in Montrose.:)

Matt Valinsky 05-04-2015 04:20 PM

Rich, If you change your mind, let me know. I'll make room for you in my environmentally equalized tent. What do you think?

Rich Anderson 05-04-2015 04:25 PM

I appreciate the offer but I'll stick to The Inn. Clean sheets, indoor plumbing and a bar/restaurant downstairs....perfect.

Our bar/restaurant is on the same level and right outside our room, we don't bother with sheets, and indoor plumbing is highly overrated. :bigbye:

Matt Valinsky 05-04-2015 10:46 PM

Well said Allan. A lot can be said for not having to navigate stairs.....!!!

Harold Lee Pickens 05-06-2015 08:08 AM

Glad to hear you are going again, Matt. I have thought about camping. I am planning on bringing some smoked grouse and pheasant for our traditional bull session at Edgar and Alan's camp.

Mike Koneski 05-06-2015 11:34 AM

COB, The Inn is one of our favorite restaurants!! The steak is always done perfectly (crispy outside and twitching/red inside) and is good no matter how it is served or which cut you choose. Veggies are outstanding, apps are wonderful and the apple crisp w/ice cream is an outstanding dessert!! We may have to make an appearance there one night of the shoot. :)

Matt Valinsky 05-06-2015 08:17 PM

Harold, Looking forward to making the trip. It was a long winter for some reason. If you want to camp and don't mind a tent, your welcome to share my camp. There will be plenty of room. I'll be going right thru Wheeling and if our schedules line up, your also welcome to ride up with me.

Mike that would be great if you, Rich and I could meet for dinner. Look forward to it.

Mike Koneski 05-07-2015 05:09 PM

What night?? Friday is the only night we'd be pressed for time as that's the evening of the FPC Shoot-Off. I'm sure Ms. Susan would make the trip too.

Kenny Graft 05-15-2015 06:05 PM

Looks like I will make the shoot. I will be camping with Matt Valinsky. We will arrive about noon on Thursday and I plan to register for the Parker - Fox challenge. Looks like I will be shooting a 1915 VH-16 28" IM/XF .018/.030 in the challenge. This should be good choice for sporting clays. Will bring couple others along so they don't get lonely. My Repro three barrel set 410-28-28 set and 1884 grade 2 hammer gun that Brad B. 100% refinished and my new CSMC Fox de spl. 28ga. It will be good to meet everyone that I have talked with on the blog. SXS ohio...(-:

Dave Suponski 05-15-2015 08:34 PM

Kenny, I look forward to meeting you. You and Matt have a safe trip.

Bob Jurewicz 05-18-2015 06:53 AM

Kenny, I'll bring my CSMC Fox FE 20 ga, I'll see if COB will bring his FE special 410. See you in a few weeks. Eric

Kenny Graft 05-18-2015 09:22 PM

Great...we can have a small gauge shoot with 410-28 and 20-s shoot...(-: Good thing about this is the shoulder will hold up better to all the 3 days of shooting....will be able to shoot more with no worry of black & blue from skeleton, HRBP or checkered buts. 410-s are lots of fun too! I look forward to it........SXS OHIO

Either night (or both) are fine with us!! :)

Rich Anderson 05-20-2015 09:29 AM

Mike we get in on Wed. We will shoot your place Thursday am then off to Ernie's. Whatever works for you will be fine.

Mike Koneski 05-20-2015 05:04 PM

Either Thursday or Saturday. Saturday may be later for me due to the Bo-Whoop/Letterman Event. If you could give me a head count I will make reservations for the group for either night to make sure we have table space for everyone.

Rich Anderson 05-20-2015 07:40 PM

I'm in at the end of this but for sure there will be Myself, Eric, Mark O, Mike Smith, Daryl.

Mike Koneski 05-22-2015 02:43 PM

Sweet!! I'll wait until we're closer to the event and then make the reservations, just to be sure our head count is correct.

Mike talked to Rich so why don't we plan on Thursday night. I think the head count is the same.

Frank Srebro 05-27-2015 09:38 PM

Gents, I shot a 12-gauge Parker with my gang today at Rock Mtn and came in with 86/100. Second behind my friend Allen who did 88/100 with his Beretta competition gas gun. Strange thing is, the Parker has been in my safe/not fired over about 4 years. Full & X-full choking. Missed 5 birds in the first 25 getting into the gun, and then 2 real close screaming rabbits. The other misses were just random here and there. Maybe I'd better rethink the Challenge?

Dean Romig 05-27-2015 09:49 PM

Bring it Frank. And bring the Foxes too. You can mull it over right up to the last minute..... then, of course, you'll grab the Parker and head out for the course.

Harold Lee Pickens 05-29-2015 12:38 PM

Allen, looks like pretty nice camping weather. I am bringing some smoked grouse, pheasant, and wild turkey( no not the bourbon, but I will have that too) for snacking on at the usual BS session that seems to form around yor campsite.

Mike Koneski 05-29-2015 01:48 PM

Harold, make sure you grace the Fox/Parker tent with some of that smoked grouse!!
