As you know Rich I'm in. Eric

Rich Anderson 12-04-2014 09:24 AM

This will be here before we realize it. I would like to get an idea of who will be coming for Mr. York at Morrison Pines seeing as he hasn't required an advance deposit from anyone.

Eric Eis 12-04-2014 09:51 AM

Well you know I'll be there.

Angel Cruz 12-04-2014 10:02 AM

Sorry Rich, I can't make it...:(

Bobby Cash 12-04-2014 10:08 AM

:envy:
You guys know how to live!

It has however been raining here in Sunny California.
Should this trend continue for another 20 inches or so for each of the next few years,
we could have a quail population boom in 5 to 10 years.
$750 per day seems cheap compared to 10 years of waiting.

Have a safe and enjoyable hunt.
Merry Christmas, Happy New year.

Rich Anderson 12-04-2014 10:12 AM

Angel sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. I know you mentioned you have work issues.
This promises to be a good time and a great hunt and I for one will be glad to leave the winter behind me for a while.

Mills Morrison 12-04-2014 10:27 AM

We're coming. Sorry Angel can't make it.

Rich Anderson 12-06-2014 07:50 AM

Mills Julia has mentioned bringing a 410 so perhaps there will be a petite bore day. No parker 410's for me but I do have a Fox FE.

Mike.Smith 12-06-2014 11:50 PM

I'm still planning on this trip as well, and really looking forward to it.

Mike

Eric Eis 12-06-2014 11:52 PM

Glad to hear that Mike, it will be fun.

Mills Morrison 12-07-2014 08:20 AM

I just got a Sterlingworth 20 gauge I am looking forward to trying it out. Will shoot it half the day and one of the Parkers the other half

Rich Anderson 12-07-2014 10:56 AM

Mills I have some 3/4oz loads that will be great for your new 20. Mike should I bring your 16ga GH??

Mills Morrison 12-07-2014 01:27 PM

Sounds great. I also bought some RST paper shells I am looking forward to trying.

Rich Anderson 12-07-2014 08:15 PM

I got 6 boxes of paper shells from Morris this fall in 16 & 20 and I used a box for Grouse season but will bring some along. I want to try an English 16ga hammer gun with some 2 inch roll crimped paper shells I have been saving for just such an occasion.

I remember those shells, you grabbed them before I had a chance....

Rich Anderson 12-09-2014 10:47 AM

Not these. Morris sent them to me.

Not talking about the RST's talking about the 2" that you grabbed from Brian at the UP shoot.....

Rich Anderson 12-09-2014 12:55 PM

Oh those shells. I've been saving them for something special and this trip will be it. I don't know of anyone making a 2 inch 16ga shell.

Oh those shells:rolleyes:.... next question.

Destry L. Hoffard 12-09-2014 07:27 PM

You only shot one box of shells during the entire grouse season? I shot a box of shells over last weekend at ducks. Grouse hunting is interesting to me in that it's not really hunting, it's mostly just a lot of walking carrying a gun. LOL

and getting to be more so around here - walking the dog in the woods carrying a gun

Rich Anderson 12-10-2014 09:16 AM

It's not about the shots or birds bagged. ANY excuse to be in the woods with a good dog and a fine gun is reason enough and it sure beats a treadmill in the exercise department.:rotf:

Destry L. Hoffard 12-12-2014 02:57 PM

As I've gotten older "being there" has become pleasant for sure, but I'd still occasionally like to shoot at something flying by. I've carried a gun for grouse two times in my life and still have yet to actually see one alive. I killed a duck the first time I ever went, I think that speaks volumes. Heh.....

This trip is right around the corner! Is everyone else as excited as I am? Mills, do we need to do anything as far as a Georgia hunting license, or are we covered by Morrison Pines? I'm headed out to Vegas for the Antique Arms Show the weekend prior to this trip. January looks to be a promising month already.

Mike

Mills Morrison 01-02-2015 01:19 PM

They should be able to set you up, license wise.

Bill Murphy 01-02-2015 04:43 PM

Mike, an earlier post explains that a preserve license is $12, available at the club. By the way, Rich, who made your 2" 16s? Are they RSTs?

Rich Anderson 01-04-2015 11:53 AM

I am MORE than ready. The year ended with nothing but bad news and tragic events. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather as winter has come in a big way here.

Bill the 2 inch 16's were from New Era Ammunition and are roll crimped paper. Brian made up several cases for a client in Hawaii and I got some of the overruns.

Mills Morrison 01-05-2015 09:16 AM

Hope all is well up there Rich and hope 2015 is better. If your experience is anything like ours, Morrison Pines will do you a lot of good

Mills Morrison 01-05-2015 09:18 AM

Planning on bringing my new Fox Sterlingworth 20 and one of the Parker 20's.

Rich Anderson 01-05-2015 09:46 AM

So far my battery is Gunner's Gun, both 28's, Fox 410 and an English 16ga hammergun. This is all subject to change of course:whistle:

Eric Eis 01-05-2015 12:11 PM

I think my plan is the AHE 20/28 gauge two barrel set (unfortunately I don't have the 16 ga Damascus barrels that it was born with, I know of a pair that would fit but he will not sell them :banghead:) my W&R 16 gauge droplock, the Parker 16/20 two barrel Damascus set. All 16 gauges will only be 7/8 oz loads... Looking forward to getting out of this cold weather....

Mike.Smith 01-05-2015 03:55 PM

I'm planning to bring my 28ga Hammer Gun, 20ga Fox Sterlingworth, and possibly two 12ga guns (a Fox and a Parker). Like Eric, I would be cooking up some lighter 3/4 oz loads for the 12's, unless you guys think shooting the 12 will be frowned on. If my 16ga gets back from being repaired, I'll take that too, but if not I think I know where to find one, eh Rich?

Mike

Mills Morrison 01-05-2015 04:02 PM

Some guests shot 12 gauges the other year we were there and there were no complaints, to my knowledge. The safety video says no Damascus guns, but that might be the safety video and not them.

Whoa . . . 28 gauge hammer gun?????:envy:

Rich Anderson 01-05-2015 04:14 PM

I shudder at the thought of a 12ga :rotf: I do know where you can get a 16 but my question is should I bring both sets of barrels????

Mills Morrison 01-22-2015 07:07 PM

Julia is threatening to bring her Benelli 28 auto.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

John Dallas 01-22-2015 08:07 PM

At Bray's Island, semi-autos or pumps are not allowed. I was anxious to take a really nice M42 , but --- not allowed :cuss:

Mills Morrison 01-22-2015 08:35 PM

A lot of quail places don't allow them and a lot of places allow only 20 and 28 gauges.

She doesn't like being made fun of and I told her that is all that will happen if she tries that. Oh well. Saw a sign today that said "men go left, because women are always right"

If she brings that thing I'll be on her like a Rottweiler on fresh steak:rotf:
