You guys are splitting hairs on grouse gun weight. The last time I was able to walk in the grouse woods, Kevin McCormack and I were hunting north of Greene, New York. I was carrying my favorite Sauer ten gauge loaded with 1 1/8 ounce RSTs and somehow survived.

I took my faithful Chesador named Radar for a walk this morning with a 9 lb 10 oz Super Fox in hand. Before too long I while Radar was sniffing for small animals I was holding the Super Fox in my left hand and pulling weeds from around my young spruce trees with my right. This went on for about an hour until I was quite sweaty. Deciding that was enough we walked back to the house. On the way a pigeon flew into an ounce and an eighth of #8's from the Super Fox. Radar was then a very happy dog!

I appreciate the two light 16's and two 20 gauges that sit in my gunsafe. I just shoot heavy guns better...

Mark

IMO, the #1 frame is the best sized Parker frame for most adults.

COB I think that you secretly covet big guns :rotf: I sell you a real Parker 12 gauge pigeon gun and use the money to buy myself a English pigeon gun. What happens? You try to buy that 12 gauge from me  Next you will be trying to buy from me my 36" DH 10 gauge! COB you are not a 16 gauge affectionado as you lead everyone to believe. Admit that you are a closet big bore fan!

Never fear I have NO DESIRE to own a 10:nono: I shot that English gun better than you did and am worried for your overall self esteem at the traps. Besides remember who talked you into that English pigeon gun:whistle:

As much as I like the two #2 frame 12's I have for sporting clays I shoot more with a small bore. I hunt with a small bore and we all know small bores rule:bowdown:

Mills Morrison 08-18-2013 07:16 PM

36 " DH 10 gauge?:envy:

Rich Anderson 08-18-2013 07:24 PM

Mills just find yourself a nice 30 or 32 inch small bore, you'll be glad you did.

No one really want's a 36 inch barreled 10 they just think they want one, then its a 36 inch 8ga then.....well then your shooting clays with a punt gun:eek:

Mark Ouellette 08-18-2013 07:26 PM

I have an 8" howitzer on order for sporting clays. I'll use is to take out the traps before I call "pull"!

Rich Anderson 08-18-2013 07:29 PM

I challeng you to a round of clays. You can use the 8ga and I'll use a 16 or smaller. Loser buys me the Burbon of my choice:rotf:

Mills Morrison 08-18-2013 07:32 PM

Rich, My most recent acquisition was a GH 16 gauge which is great on clays. Just not as much fun to hear it go bang as the 10 gauges.

Rich Anderson 08-18-2013 09:43 PM

That 16 might not be as much fun (so you think) but it's easier on the wallet and the shoulder and I'd bet the scores will be better with the 16.

John Dallas 08-19-2013 10:35 AM

COB - Interesting bet proposition. If you lose, you buy yourself a bottle of Old Stumpblower, and the winner gets nothing. Not sure I'd take that bet

Bruce,

Please don't show that cased 28 gauge again. My heart went all aflutter there for a moment. What a beautiful gun. Thanks for the photos.

Rich was discussing 16 gauge shotguns.

I was discussing 8 inch field guns.

Roundsworth may join in wiht the merits of shooting clays or fortified positions with 16 inch guns. :rotf:
