Bill,
I found that factoid in The Parker Story, page 353. Mentions 238 Grade 7 guns made in all gauges, three with Damascus.

OK, then it's settled. My Parkers are "xxxx". What great Parkers on this thread.

Dan Steingraber 03-15-2023 07:50 PM

Wow!

Corey your AAHE is my favorite Parker bar none.

BHE made in 1916, who would have been the engraver in your opionions?

Frederick Anschutz possibly during that period. Nice engraving Phil !

Dean Romig 03-30-2023 08:22 AM

Could have been Anschutz, and I think William Gough was active in that period as well.

I can't believe that's the same hand that engraved what I'm sure are Anschutz engraved dogs on some of my guns from the early 1920s in which the dogs are depicted with strong, simplified contours, little modeling of form, and oversized and oddly positioned eyes. That engraving on Phil's gun looks like my 1918 DHE and the beautifully engraved guns that Craig shared. If Gough was active at the end of the 1910s, it is more than likely his.

In any event, that engraving on Phil's guns is some of Parker's best.

I remember a similar discussion long ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Why is the name "Spangler" tinkling a few distant bells?

If he engraved stars and ribbons that would make them star Spanglered banners. Just sayin'.

I believe these two BH's were engraved by the same hand most likely Gough in my opinion. Circa 1902 and 1906

Dean Romig 03-31-2023 07:20 AM

I agree Craig. I’m looking forward to seeing some of your fine guns at Hausmann’s in June.
