I put 175 rds of vintage "Super-X" and equivalent loads through my 1883 twist bbl hammer gun last year. It loves them and I don't worry one bit.

I should add that it has the stoutest bbls of any #2 frame Parker I have and will handle any vintage factory load out there I think.

Rich, careful, you'll get the low pressure police down hard on you.

I don't have any concerns about the barrels on my Dam guns handling the pressuse but I do have concern for the wood so I only shoot low pressure. When the old boy in Home Depot asked why I needed 42" of schedule 40 and 2 end caps I told him I was shipping barrels. That started him telling me about using it to test fire guns. I've read references to guys using tires, string and other things to test their old guns.

I give mine a visual inspection for pitting, major dents or other issues and, if there are none, I just load up several boxes of RST shells and take them to the gun club.

I go out and shoot a round of sporting clays when I get a new Damascus gun.
Most of these guns have shot 3 dr smokeless loads for 100 years.
The only failures that I have seen from a LOts of guns were two fairly new steel barrel guns.
