Many people past and present look for a nice DHE with European walnut and skeleton butt plate. It was Parker's usual presentation gun, has nice wood and enough engraving to hold a person's interest. Lots were made in various gauges and configurations such that a person should be able to find what interests him. The skeleton butt plate was distinctive to middle and higher grade Parkers.

Steve,
$10k for something special? Perhaps a once in a lifetime purchase? How about something made for you such as Rich, aka C.O.B. had made for him or rather for his dog Gunner: http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ersGun_075.jpg The total cost of Gunner's Gun was over $10k but not that much more... Another affordable custom belongs to PGCA member Greg, aka Wild Skies. It is a wonderful AH Fox 20 gauge which was custom made for Greg for under $15k: http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...Jun12_3021.jpg PS: Both guns shown were engraved by Robert Strosin of RES Engraving. The cabin was very nice and right on the water with new insulated windows and a wonderful westardly view so the sunsets were out of this world! Lived there in the summers and for a few entire years for eight years. There were several problems. The neighbors turned to black smelly stuff and I was 23 miles removed from my library and gun collection. I tried to fish...it's okay....if you catch fish. What I really love to do (besides drinking scotch) is to shoot clays/trap/skeet and reload for my gun collection which is kind of esoteric. I reload for: 30 Remington, 11 mm Mauser, 45-70, 50-70, 9mm Makarov, 45 Auto Rim and ACP, 45 Long Colt, 8mm Lebel and '06, 308, 222, 243, 303 Savage, 303 Brit, 7/57 and 8/57. I have been essentially away from my reloading bench for 8 years and I've just bought a Rock Chucker, which makes things SO much easier. The cabin was wonderful, but I'm over it. If any of you want a charming little cabin along the Deschutes River in Central Oregan, I'm your man! If/after it sells I am in the market for a light, game gun Parker. I see quite a few for sale. I'd kind of like a 10 gauge lifter, so I'm going to buy all of my raffel tickets. I am sure I'll win. Sunset off of the back deck of the cabin: http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...Sunsets023.jpg |

Thank you for the wonderful pictures and what a fine Parker! With guns like that around why would anyone want to spring for an English best? One can cost five times as much/more than this wonderful/classy Parker. I own a really fine, but plain Fox Sterlingworth. A very, very nice shotgun! I'm going to google the engraver. I may just gussy up my Fox Gun. |

Gentlemen,
To correct an error on my previous post: "Another affordable custom belongs to PGCA member Greg, aka Wild Skies. It is a wonderful AH Fox 20 gauge which was custom made for Greg for under $15k:" This AH Fox is not owned by Greg, aka Wild Skies. Greg has an equally nice (perhaps nicer???) custom Fox emgraved by RES. Sorry about that Greg, Mark |
I had $10,000 in cash once. I spent most of it on whores and whiskey, the rest I just kinda wasted......

Well, and yes it is an old story. I thought I had the cabin sold and it fell through. The relator called said an offer was impending. Then it didn't. Happens all of the time in real estate.
However, please keep the Parker suggests rolling in. I won't trade my trophy wife for one tho, she cooks too well. |
