Don,
I have always wondred about the size buttstock Parker used on 20 ga guns. I have a high condition 20 ga Trojan (28" barrels) with a butt that is identical in dimension to the butt on my 20 ga DHE with 30" barrels, both of which are noticeably smaller than the butt on my 16 ga DH #1 frame. Could people specify what size butt they wanted (on their guns)? |
I don't think the customer often specified the butt size. I think the workman or foreman used what he needed to make the weight. I have seen 0 frame guns with 1 frame stocks, and the opposite. I have seen 1 frame 16s with 0 frame stocks that could have made a weight by using a 0 frame action. I have seen a 12 gauge 1/2 frame gun with the smallest butt I have seen on any Parker, including .410. These odd guns can usually be spotted because the buttplate used is usually the one proper for the stock, not the action.
