$2650 was the magic number back then. My dad bought an as-new DHE20 for $2650 from him. It now resides with his first grandson, not 5 miles from Kevin.

I definitely remember Alan’s moaning about if… his pi$$ing, not so much. :rotf:

He sounds like a wonderful man. I wish him the best and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Bill, That far back might have been the first store, a little further North on Route 7. If I remember correctly, he moved down to the 'new' store about 1974-5. That store had the workshop in the basement, where I spent most of my time. That's when I met Tony G, who got his start there, in the basement, under the tutelage of Walter. Kurt, Peter Keiler, and Tony rarely came upstairs, while Gary held court with guys like Bill Ruger Sr, Gunner Anderson, my dad, Jeff Purdy, Dick Fairchild, and Emil (?, brain fart) who owned Rapidex. One of those Thursdays, not one, but two of the grade 9 guns were there. My dad liked the 16, but it was still there :banghead:when we went home.

Edgar are you thinking of Emil Linder?

Bill Murphy 03-07-2026 06:26 AM

I still have letters from Emil Linder. I thought he was friendly and willing to share information. I never met him face to face. He was proud to tell me about the BHE .410 and some others. If I dig out the letters, I'll tell you the dates. I remember meeting Tony at shows back then and earlier. He and I were both just kids, but I had no money and way less talent.
