Should be a good shoot. We've been working on the shooting grounds for a week now - guys have been painting/ cleaning up - I've been setting machines. We have our pigeon ring machine in the ground by 5-stand. Someone bring directions to Flat River. Hey Mark - who's that woose standing up in a duck boat when he shoots? Like to see him try that out in Lake St. Clair - he'd have a wet ass. Paul

The address is 300 South Greenville rd Greenville Mi. Its about 8 miles north of town on M91. It will be a good shoot...no Duck boats:whistle:

I shot the Lapeer Pigeon Ring yesterday and it is much improved from what it was during our spring shoot. The ring was moved to the 5-Stand area where five shooter can shoot each relay. Also, two shots are allowed at each target. Most of us shot it with full choked guns and found the for the straight-away's we needed more choke (because we didn't shoot quick enough!).
Hope to see many of you at Lapeer on 23 July! Mark |
It was a hot and steamy day at Lapeer Michigan on the 23rd of July, 2011. Nevertheless an intrepid group of mostly aging men and a couple women rendezvoused with their favorite SxS’s to celebrate life by shooting those ever elusive clay pigeons.
The Parker Gun Collector’s Association was well represented. Seated are: Terry, Eric "Opening Day", Mark "Big Friend Ten", and Paul "PH Forge" Standing: Paul Sr., Rich "COB", Dave, and Kurt "Dollar Grade" http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_26.jpg On display were a trio of Parker EH 10 Gauges with #2 and #3 Frames, a lovely 16 GHE Skeet, a BH 12 Gauge, and a Grade 3 Top Lever hammer gun. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_24.jpg My squad included a Parker GH 20, a William Powell 16, a Linder (Daly?) Diamond Grade 16, a Parker Skeet 12 with Vent Rib, and my 1906 AH Fox A Grade 32” 12. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_04.jpg This photo of Paul Jr. with his AYA #2 and fine cigar says it all! http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_02.jpg Kurt of “Densmore Custom Calls” eyes the sky for ducks as Eric and Rich try to tell him that we are only shooting “clay” birds! http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_05.jpg Kurt shooting his Parker GH 20 http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_09.jpg Rich calling for the target http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_13.jpg Rich breaking a bird with his vent rib Parker http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_15.jpg Eric with his William Powell 16 http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_21.jpg Paul Sr. with a nice Parker http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...23JUL11_11.jpg |

Mark that's a William Powell 16 ga. It was a fun shoot too bad the hot weather turned away so many shooters. Paul the Pigeon shoot was great fun...

It looks like you guys had a great time! It's always good to see PGCA represeatation at the various shoots around the country and with the Official PGCA Banner too... very nice!!
I think it was a darn good idea to have folks volunteer for regional responsibilities to get the face of the PGCA out there at more shooting events. We need to continue to show folks that these old guns are venerable tools for smashing clays and taking game. Maybe someday we can even sponsor a Boy Scouts of America shoot to help get the youth interested too. |
BFT, Thank You for volunteering to set up the PGCA table. Looks like you boy's had a "Smashing" good time.... Great pictures too! I talked to COB last night while he was on his way home and he told me that Paul and the rest of the volunteers set up a great course. Hopefully this shoot will continue to draw more shooters.
