The dry weather here has slowed up my first planting of sweet corn. It won't be ready before I leave for Mike's shoot

Just be thankful you don't have wild hogs.
Two years ago I had planted two separate patches of sweet corn, about a mile and a half apart. One night before they were ready the hogs found one of the patches and totally destroyed it, in ONE NIGHT! |

My method of cooking corn on the grill is to soak the unhusked ear for a few hours in water then grill with the husk on. The water it absorbers aids in the cooking. Really good tasting and tender.

Black bears will decimate a corn field in short order.
After they finish with your corn they will focus on your apple trees and bust the limbs down to bring the apples closer to them. . |

We’ve had a pretty wet spring and summer here in Ohio so mine is doing ok. I’m certainly glad I do not have hogs to deal with like you folks do in the south. Here’s to summertime in America!
