A number of years ago a friend, who owned a veterinary practice visited the Purina plant. He said that while he was there, the plant refused an entire rail car of ingredients because it did not pass their inspection. Perhaps that was a marketing ploy, but either way an entire rail car is big bucks. So he always recommended Purina and also Science Diet.
The food has worked well for our hunting dogs so far. |
I, and many in New England would not agree that Purina Pro Plan is the best. I've had several issues with several different flavors of their PPP Sport. The issues have been finding fly larvae in several new unopened bags, my dogs refusing to eat it, unsetteld stomachs and pervasive skin allergies. Myself and about 20 or so New England hunting/field trial friends have all switched to Inukshuk. Results have been smaller more efficient stools (no smushy wet ones), improved coats with no itching and have cut back from 2.5 cups/day to 1.5 cups/day.

I fed Inukshuk for a long time, until I could no longer obtain it locally, great stuff. Feed Diamond Performance now.

I used to use Purina Pro Plan when I was NSTRA trialing. I switched to Blue Buffalo when it became available in our area. I have used it ever since.
I have heard good reviews on the INUKSHUK brand but we do not have it locally. A number of years ago there were several NSTRA trial dogs that died from what was determined to be from one of the brands mentioned on here. |
It's good

Nevef a problem with it and never experienced the fly larva you experienced… and her stools were firm and of average size for a 55 lb active dog that was fed 2.5 measured cups per day but when she was hunting I fed her 3.5 cups and she never wanted for water. My vet always remarked on what a fine specimen she was. . |
Chewy will deliver Inukshuk to your door.. Free shipping..

I used to order Gracie’s 34 lb. bags of Pro-Plan from Chewy. It was very convenient.

Like Dean, we've not had a problem with ProPlan so far. We order it from Amazon and I'm careful to inspect the bags for date and damage upon arrival. Also keep an eye out for recalls.
