The woodwork looks outstanding to me! Did you do the checkering (which I also think is great)? What kind of wood? Great job!!!!! Oh, time those butt plate screws.

Chris, Very nice..You wood guy's amaze me.....About as close to wood working I will get is putting it to my cheek...sometimes....

Jerry and Charlie ,thank-you fella's for the kind comment's,I was a little apprehensive about posting my work ...Whew!!!

Bob,the wood in fact is Black Walnut ,the crappy camera washed out the color ...(the screw's:eek: I missed em !!! I'll look after it )

Brent, the finish is in fact true oil ,many, many coat's and many 400 grit sanding's in between (sanded every ten coat's...I usually sand 4-5 time's on a worthwhile job)

The checkering is mine as well,it was my first Parker concave border....my first Parker stock actually....that border is the devil's own when a fella ain't accustomed to it !!!

The pic's also show a glossy streaking which in fact is not there,I wiped her down before I took the pic's with my oily gun rag.

The last one is of me working in my shop,my wife took it unbeknownst to me....I included it so you could see the stock in progress ,second from right

As you can see photography is not my forte;)

Looks good Chris, that skeleton buttplate really dresses it up. I finished the book you gave me, it was excellent.

Exceptionally nice work Chris! Just wondering why you wouldn't have kept with the original Parker Bros. C-Grade checkering pattern?
