J.A.'s price is the lowest I've heard of - best buy at our local gun show(s) is c. $21 box of 25 for 2 1/2" shells # 8 or 9 shot.

Brian, I know what Stan uses them for, but what do you use them for? I once killed 13 straight pheasants with 3" #6 and 7 1/2 in an L C Smith bored modified and full. I also won an informal Chinese Trap event against 12 gauge shooters with my Browning Superposed .410 bored full and full, loaded with 3" 7 1/2. Our Chinese Trap events are shot from the 25 yard line. I don't imagine I am up to repeating those feats today.

I use them in 8 shot for quail and sporting clays through my DHE and an LC Smith field. Next trip will be for Bob’s in South Tx. Some times in a Winchester 42 or superposed.

That is at least $5.50 a box cheaper than big box stores. I'm interested in how the empties will reload since I have no idea who makes the hulls if not made by them. But I can shoot like crazy now after doves in the late season without reloading bird shot.

Received a case of .410 Challenger shells today. I read they were made in Canada but these are made in France. Nice box but a hunter is getting ready to shoot a French rabbit in front of his bird dog. Thought that was sort of funny.

I loaded a few yesterday, but it was too cold in the garage to load a bunch. The hulls were 3" Remington. The primer seater sticks in the shell, so I will have to modify it a bit. Presently, I am grabbing the shell with pliers and hitting the pliers lightly with a small hammer to free it. The loader is a very old MEC 600 that was given away at my club. The extra step is no big deal and the loaded shells are beautiful. I don't know how they will feed in a Model 42, but the deprime station seems to include a sizer.

Bill, are all of them sticking? If only a few, then I noticed when boxing them up for you that I had already deprimed and resized some of them. If so, they were resized with my MEC Super Sizer. That thing's so strong it may have downsized some of the primer pockets.

No, I think that the hollow rod that goes into the shell is digging into the base wad if there is one. No big deal. I'll modify the rod so that the edge of the thing isn't so sharp.

I find that these shells fit just fine in any gun I've tried them in, whether they have been through the sizer or not. Whoopee! I will shoot some this weekend if the weather gets better.

There is some 410 ammo available locally. But, you'll pay for it. There is a friend that has several flats of AA #9s at $140/flat + freight. He's offering them with a 10 flat minimum.

Those 3" WW shells are only a buck more expensive than the 2 1/2". Are we sure the 3" are 25 shell boxes?
