As I have posted before, my 20 gauge two barrel set is described as a "Skeet" gun in the Cody letter, but is not marked on the floor plate. Both sets of barrels are chambered for 3" shells, - 26" IC/MOD AND 30 " MOD/FULL

Usually, you will find the grade, Field, Skeet, Deluxe, etc. in a line that says Skeet finish, Deluxe finish or some such. The finish does not always correspond to the actual grade of the gun.

It says "Deluxe Field finish" on the sheet from Cody. Is the gun marked DELUXE on the trigger plate?
Attachment 116880 Another general Model 21 question. When they added the 3-inch 20-gauge to the Model 21 Duck Gun listing in the January 2, 1954, Winchester catalog, they changed the name in the catalogs to Model 21 Magnum Gun. Have any guns marked MAGNUM on the trigger plate been observed? |

According to Schwing, the Deluxe Field was first offered in 1942 and last offered in 1950. 14625 was completed and inspected by January of 1950. Similar to the Dallas Skeet Grade 2 barrel set, no grade stamping. What was the purpose of not stamping the floor plate? |
I don't think anyone knows the answer to that one. However, I don't think it's the customer. I've never seen an order that specified "No grade stamp".
|
In my skeptical mind I sometimes wonder if some of those trigger-plate stampings were done at New Haven or New Britain?

So Dave,
What do you make of un stamped floor plates but grades being called out in Cody searches. |
