No way is that gun worth the BIN. Current bid is about right, but no higher than $1,850.00.

Stephen Hodges 03-16-2011 09:24 PM

:corn: Well, it sold for $1802.

:crying:No, not on its way to the Granite State. My gun funds in the near future are going to go to a new sporting clays gun. I sold my Caesar Guerini Summit and am looking for another gun. Will not be another Guerini.

So, if I could learn here, what is the going rate for a DH ? From what I've seen 2K is the average. What about a DHE ? There is a seller on GB who has dozens of doubles, and 8 -10 Parkers for sale at any given time, and his DH's appear to go for around 4K. Is it all condition, condition, condition ? Are the DH/DHE's with Titanic barrels more desireable as opposed to the earlier ones with damascus?

thanks.

Stephen,
One of the best buys on O/U Sporters today is the Blaser F3 Sporter.I shoot a 32" barrel gun with Muller choke tubes.New styl has adjustable comb and ribs .I prefer the convential original fixed rib and stock.Barrels may be had in 28,30,32" lengths. The HQ for Blaser is right here in San Antonio.Nice people to do business with.I shoot the base version but you can get as fancy as your pocket will allow. If you want any information .......ALAMOSPORTINGARMS.COM,Mike Young is the place to contact.
I have shot all the big names in my time..this Blaser is truly my favorite gun.

There is no "going rate" for a DH Parker IMHO because condition and the motivation of buyers and sellers can be such subjective things. That particular DH sold for that price because that's all the market would bear on that gun. Personally I would not pay a premium for an ejector gun because I prefer extractors being primarily a shooter and not a collector. There are other features to a gun gun that draw me in, but ejectors are not one of them. As far as that GB seller, he does have a number of guns, but I don't know how many he really moves. There are several that have been in the rotation for a while. I say if you see something you like, make him an offer. All he can say is no, but you get a dialogue going. The damascus G and D grades are fantastic bargains, esp. the G-grade.

...and his DH's appear to go for around 4K.

Never confuse a seller's asking price with value. One can put whatever price tag he chooses on an item. Instead, pay close attention to what a specimen actually sells for in an open auction to determine market value. I recently bought an almost identical DH with damascus barrels for $1750. This one sold for $1800. That should be telling us something about current market value in this economy. Forget about the guys who want to start their auctions on damascus DHs at $4,000; they're dreaming.

Gauge and condition being the deciding factors, they may not be "dreaming" at all.
