These old gun writers were often telling stories, not reporting factual news. I have long thought one has to do some reading between the lines with Nash, but there are dangers in that as well. It has long been my feeling that Nash, and several of the other old writers, never let exact facts get in the way of a good story.

What was his "home" skeet club ? National Capitol or Talbot ?

J. Cliff Green that is !

AND in many cases, a lot of alcohol was involved.

Craig, Cliff Green's friends seem to have been members at Sudlersville Skeet Club.

In one of my scrapbooks from my younger days, I have a postcard sent from the National Championship Skeet Shoot by members of the Sudlersville Skeet Club to their friend, Cliff Green lamenting that he couldn't be with them at the shoot. I don't have the postcard in my hand, but as I recall, more than one of the shooters I actually shot with when I was a youngster. Cliff Green lived in Centerville, MD, just down the road from Chestertown. My great old 20 gauge SC grade single trap two barrel 12-20 set lived in Chestertown about the same time as Cliff Green's even greater BHE two gun four gauge set. Those Eastern Shore guys sure knew how to order Parkers. I shot many skeet shoots at the Sudlersville Skeet Club and met some of the grand old men of NSSA skeet at those shoots. I wrote the Hall of Fame induction for Joe George, an early Sudlersville member and father of Johnny George, proprietor of the sporting clays range that is no longer with us, (what is the name of that great range?). In 1996, I won the Eastern Shore Open at Sudlersville, one of my high spots of competitive shooting. Next month, this shoot will be held again, and Cliff Green and I will not be competing.

The Green set was THE main reason I flew to the Southern the first time I was there . I wanted to take a couple pictures and honestly say I was in the presence of that set . I’ll never afford the set but if I did I would try to wear them out shooting them !

Craig, maybe we can get a communal group to purchase the gun and shoot it on alternate days or weeks. Since I'm a low roller, I'll be willing to take Mondays. By the way, John George's sporting clays club was J&P Sporting Clays, a great range in its time.

If and it’s a damn big if ! If that set ever graced my hands I most likely wouldn’t turn them loose ! Not just on the skeet field but I’d be up for using them for dove and or quail .

Craig is right. That pair has everything
