Dean the few DelGrego pads I've seen were black with their name on the end. Did they make multiple color pads?

Tom, I’ve seen a few brown ones.

Yes, the current stock is not original.

If you use that blank, get a different forend piece. I would not use that for the forend on a SxS. It would not be strong and would be a pain to work with. Or if the gun were a splinter, you could get it out of the butt piece.

I have a few times had to go back to cecil and exchange forend blanks for straighter ones.

This gun came to me in a trade, and did not have a recoil pad. I installed a Decelerator. The pad was not fitted to this gun, and is slightly oversized.
I took the pad from a gun I had sold, and it pretty much just bolted on.
This gun has the Parker Single Trigger, which needs a little work.
The selector doesn't work properly, (won't fire left barrel first if selected) and has a very heavy trigger pull.
I've heard that some shooters cranked up trigger pull weights to stave off flinching problems. Don't know if that's the case here, but the gun is a project.
Possibly a very good project.
A friend of mine has been saying that he thinks this gun should be upgraded to an A, AA, or maybe an A1, but I don't have the finances for a project on that level.
A wood upgrade would be it for me.

Cecil had and still has some nice wood. It certainly is over the too for a VHE, but its sorta what floats your boat. I would say save the original stock and restock the gun to fit you. Nothing worse then a lovely blank sitting in a closet nit being used. Short answer is write the check and go for it. PS. What does the other side of the blank look like?

Here's the right side. Both sides are good, but different.

I have to agree with Brian that I wouldn't use that forearm blank and that the wood is over the top for a VHE. Watt's Walnut has some very nice black walnut blanks that would be more appropriate for your project. I bought a very nice blank from him for a rifle project for $300.
