Mike that's exactly the weather we had. We flushed about 25 grouse and 15 woodcock, but saw very few of the grouse due to the leaf cover. It was so bone dry and crunchy I'm sure there were more grouse we moved that we didn't know of. The lowest it got over night was 36 so we didn't have the benefit of a frost to burn off in the morning to help scenting.

Hope this warm weather cools down. Leaving friday morn. for 2 weeks+ in the UP. Looks like a cold front is coming soon. My son will be coming up sometime in the second week for his first upland trip.

It was a regular size bird,just the photo

It may have been an adult and a young of the year. That would account for the apparent size difference. I have seen that many times with grouse.
