It was one of those ideas that sounds good on paper but is flawed in practice .
Even when the extractors would remove the adapter you still had to use a rod to remove the cases from the adapters. I think when it comes to gauge adapters its best to KISS ( Keep it simple stupid) as my AG shop teacher used to say :rotf: . Honestly though for me vintage double gun collecting is such a expensive hobby worrying about shell cost is a non starter for me .

On my " silver " some of the lip was removed like a " gold " so the fingernail could be inserted under the rim of the shell so it could be removed without removing the adapter.

Yeah the shells I were using would always get stuck in them. I think maybe the heavier loads werent meant to be fired in the adapters .

There used to be some plastic adaptors, I bought a pack of 25, 12 to 20 to shoot a special club match, they weren't very expensive and worked fine. I'd load all 25 and drop them in my bag and push out the empties and reload them between rounds..

I also use gage mates and skeeters 10 ga to 12 ga...they work very well...I took a little die grinder and split the skeeters shell comes out real easy...also use the savage 410 to 12 ga insert works well....charlie
