My father used to tell me that during WW2 the only shells he could find in rural MN was #9 skeet loads. He shot many ducks with those loads. Lots of water and lots of ducks in those days

I like #9 shot with spreader wads when I shoot at Ernie's.

I shoot 9 shot regularly in my 28 gauge. Works fine for clays , doodles and quail.

Shot four rounds of skeet yesterday evening a round each with a pair of 28’s and a pair of 20’s . All were reloads with #9’s .

Years ago I got caught short a day or two before a registered trap shoot . I shot #9’s at 16 yards with no ill effects . If memory serves I shot a 98 , not perfect but well enough to win my class that day .
