Frank, I’ve used Jon’s wall thickness gauge and find it repeatedly accurate and easy to use. The other two I have used, for me, are difficult to get repeated accuracy and for me, are harder to use.
Maybe his bore mic is no better than any others but I just think if he can make a wall thickness setup as user friendly as it is it just stands to reason that his bore mic must be a good one too. Just my opinion, but having experience with it, I think it’s a valid opinion. YMMV . |
I have heard nothing but great things about Jon's wall thickness gauge and I will also get the bore measurement gauge. I looked at his website and everything looks to be top notch quality. I think my passion for Parkers and vintage guns justifies that kind of investment. Yes you pay for a quality tool(s) but it reminds me of the saying: I'm too poor to buy cheap things
Everything looks great even his dent removal tool. Thanks for the recommendation! |
My Parker 10 and one of my 12ga guns both have oversized bores. I think you'll find many early Parkers have oversized bores. The 12 has .744 and the 10 I'm not sure of but I think it's up in the .800 range. The .729 standard didn't come into effect till after Parker was making guns for awhile.

A few of our late PGCA members were working on measuring and tabulating factory over bored guns, especially 10 fa. guns. I don’t know where the unfinished results of their research ended up.
