Martin, you asked earlier what might one expect to pay for a restock. My own experience in having a number of sxs's restocked has run from $3k to $3,500. Others may have a different experience

Interestingly, all three of my Remington era SBTs have grip caps marked "Parker Bros. Meriden Conn."

I'd send pictures to the "Stock Doctor" Dennis Earl Smith. If the stock is original, he can do magic and possibly make it look brand new. It's worth a shot.

After looking closely, I don't see a medallion on the stock so it's not original. Best to have a buttstock made. I looked for years for a buttstock before I found one that could be made to fit. The forend can be fixed so the holes can't be seen.
